This charming café is tucked a bit away from Shiozawa Street.
Is the owner couple living upstairs? The high ceilings create a pleasant atmosphere.
Soft music plays at a comfortable volume from tall speakers.
This place certainly reflects the essence of Karuizawa.
In spring, you might even see birds gathering around the bird feeder set up in front of the café.
The plate lunch seems to be quite popular, but despite visiting several times, I still haven’t had the chance to try it.
So, I’ll focus on my review of the curry.
The chicken curry features tender, slow-cooked chicken in a spicy Indian-style sauce.
The texture feels smooth, and it has a hint of sautéed onions that linger on the palate.
Considering the location, the price of 1200 JPY for a hearty curry, salad, and yogurt might be considered a good deal.
The seasonal vegetable curry includes deep-fried vegetables instead of chicken and is priced the same.
The chai served after the meal has a soothing taste, perfect for the cold season.
While there is another place called Rizanbo on the same street, it has a distinctly different vibe, which helps to define the two establishments.
And let’s not forget the dogs!!!!
Biscuit, the poodle, and Fine, the flat-coated retriever, are resting in the corner of the café.
The curry is delicious, but make sure to stop by and meet these two friendly pups—they’ll happily wag their tails when you pet them!
