Just a short walk from the north exit of Karuizawa Station, you will find "Teuchi Soba Honjin," a restaurant with a quiet presence and a welcoming noren curtain. Among the many renowned Shinshu soba establishments in Karuizawa, this one exudes a sense of elegance.
【Order】
I ordered the "Chilled Mushroom Soba" (JPY 1,350). Considering its location in a tourist area, the price is a bit on the higher side, but the dish was worth every yen.
【Taste】
The hand-made soba has a firm texture that glides smoothly down the throat, providing a delightful experience. The soba dipping sauce, rich in flavor, harmonizes beautifully with the robust noodles, allowing you to savor its depth with every bite. The accompanying mushrooms offered a refreshing texture, allowing me to fully enjoy the bounty of the mountains.

While it is a bit inconvenient that they only accept cash, the exquisite taste more than makes up for it. This bowl is truly fitting for a stay in Karuizawa.
