I visited the Karuizawa branch of Hanaoka, which has its main store in Tōmi City. Located within the supermarket Tsuruya, it’s very convenient for shopping.
◾️ Atmosphere
The counter is filled with a wide variety of products, offering an extensive selection of both Japanese and Western sweets.
◾️ Sweets
I purchased walnut dumplings, walnut daifuku, and kusa mochi. The walnut dumplings are topped with a generous amount of walnut sauce over skewered dumplings, creating a perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors, along with the fragrant walnuts and chewy dumplings. The kusa mochi has a strong flavor and aroma of grass, and the subtly sweet, refined red bean paste makes it a high-quality wagashi.
The prices are also very reasonable, and I believe these are exceptionally delicious Japanese sweets. If you're looking to buy wagashi in Karuizawa, this is the place to go!
