One of the things I can confidently recommend to my friends and acquaintances in other prefectures is the selection from Atelier de Fromage.
It had been a while since I had enjoyed their offerings, so when I visited Karuizawa, I bought some puddings and cheeses to take home.
The pudding is rich yet smooth, with a flavor reminiscent of cream cheese.
As you dig deeper, you’ll find a layer of traditional-style pudding underneath, offering a delightful change in texture.
The tiramisu features a delicious mascarpone cheese that reflects the quality of a specialty shop, enhanced by the texture of chocolate in the layers and the deep flavor of coffee.
The stick cheesecake has a yogurt-like taste, followed by a sharp acidity, a luscious sweetness, and a lingering hint of banana in the aftertaste.
When paired with wine, the blue cheese retains its distinctive aroma while the sharpness and astringency are mellowed, complemented by a rich creaminess that makes it impossible to stop until it’s all gone.
