Founded in 1952 as a fruit and vegetable store, we started making jams and now offer around 50 varieties year-round. You can also enjoy our hearty pirozhki filled with plenty of ground meat and boiled eggs for takeout. |
On August 15, 2012,
during the peak of the Obon holiday and in the height of summer, shoppers walking through the old Karuizawa Ginza were indulging in cafe mocha soft serve from Mikado Coffee, honey soft serve from a specialty honey shop, and soy milk soft serve from a soy milk shop.
As for me, I had my sights set on my favorite blueberry soft serve from Sawa Ya, and I dashed all the way to Karuizawa Church!
The purple soft serve, filled with Sawa Ya's special blueberry sauce, has such a vivid color that it's surprising to learn it contains no added colorings.
With just one bite, the fresh aroma of blueberries spreads across my palate. It's hard to believe how rich the flavor is, especially since it's also free of artificial scents!
At JPY 400, it’s a bit on the pricey side, but I think the cost-performance is excellent!
I really hope they consider offering flavors other than blueberry!
