【Visit Date】A holiday at 9 AM, stayed for 30 minutes.
【Waiting Time】None. No guests.
【Purpose of Visit】A morning meal right after I started my day.
【Reason for Visit】I happened to pass by early in the morning and saw that the restaurant was open.
In early Karuizawa, there are a few places to have breakfast, but I feel like many of them serve mostly bread. Amidst that, I happened to spot the "Takeda Soba Furin Chaya" sign while passing by, so I decided to stop in.
The interior was empty and had a quiet atmosphere. The place is typical of a soba restaurant, with traditional Japanese tables and chairs arranged throughout, but oddly enough, there were anime figures and art pieces scattered around. I pondered whether this was related to the restaurant or simply the owner’s hobby, but I couldn't make sense of it.
By the way, the menu included a note about the proper way to enjoy soba, which gave off a serious vibe, but the presence of a certain character made it feel a bit suspicious.
▪️ Walnut Soba - JPY 1,400
The soba had a light color and varied thickness that provided a smooth and refreshing taste. The ground walnuts were generous, mixed well with the soba dipping sauce. The flavor of the walnuts blended into the sauce, resulting in a gentle seasoning. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed inside, so I don't have any images, but it was delicious soba.
I felt a slight discomfort due to the minimal service, the formalities, and the many restrictions. However, I understand that many restaurants in tourist areas have their difficulties. This may be part of the restaurant's policy, so I think it’s best to eat quietly and leave promptly when finished.
Thank you for the meal.
