A cozy interior filled with the warmth of nature. Enjoy French cuisine made with seasonal ingredients that change with the seasons.
Step into an extraordinary space that feels like being in the heart of a forest. At "Musai-an Ikeda," you can savor exquisite French cuisine while experiencing the changing seasons. The chef carefully selects vegetables from producers whose faces you can see, ensuring a personal touch in every dish. Each plate is a delightful combination of ingredients born from interactions with these producers, showcasing a playful spirit. |
I've been wanting to visit Musai An for over a year, and I'm so happy I finally made it! Fortunately, there was an available counter seat even though I didn't have a reservation. What luck?!
I opted for the JPY 3150 lunch course.
You can choose from appetizers, mains, and desserts.
To start, I had the appetizer of fresh fish marinated in kombu salt. The dish was abundant with vegetables, and the sweet yellow cherry tomatoes were delicious! I wish I had asked where they were sourced from.
Next, a turnip potage arrived, bringing a light sweetness that was quite comforting.
For the main course, I chose grilled pork shoulder. It was perfectly charred over an open flame, and the fat was scrumptious. It was so good that I found myself eating in silence.
The colorful vegetables on the side added a rich flavor that was quite surprising.
For dessert, I selected the tea pudding.
It was so filling that I had to pass some to my companion!
My friend chose the appetizer of botan shrimp and sweet shrimp tartare, and they were very impressed with how delicious it was.
At the end, the tea served was accompanied by lemon upon request, which was a nice touch.
The restaurant is small but had a nice ambiance with mirrors reflecting the surrounding forest.
However, there was an unpleasant smell lingering from the restroom, likely due to poor ventilation.
As a dining establishment, I feel they should implement air purifiers or improve the ductwork for better air quality.
While some dishes on the menu were outstanding, others missed the mark, so I hope they can find a better balance. Additionally, the portion sizes are quite large for women, as I couldn’t even finish my dessert.
A better volume would be a single plate plus soup and dessert.
