Starting the morning in Karuizawa at Manpei is truly the best. While the French dinner in the Main Dining Room feels a bit outdated, breakfast here always leaves me feeling refreshed.
First, let me mention the maître d', Mr. Nagai. He embodies everything that Manpei Hotel represents.
His elegance and attention to detail are remarkable. I can hardly imagine this place without his presence.
For breakfast, we were served two types of hotel jam that can also be bought as souvenirs, along with butter and peeled tomatoes.
There was an egg dish with lightly cooked vegetables, a selection of fresh juices, toasted bread, and either coffee or tea.
On a leisurely morning without any rush, I enjoyed my meal by the window, watching the greenery, flowers, bees, and butterflies.
As time slowly passed, I caught glimpses of Mr. Nagai's graceful movements.
Each of his consistent actions seems to symbolize the enduring charm of Karuizawa.
