After enjoying Ayako Tanaka's concert in Karuizawa, we visited this restaurant for dinner.
Since it was the first day of the Obon holiday, we made a reservation as soon as we decided to attend the concert.
We booked a table for 5 PM, the opening time for the evening session.
We arrived 5 minutes early, but there was already a large crowd waiting to enter.
A sign at the entrance read "Fully Booked Today."
With separate rooms and a second floor, it seems like they have a considerable capacity, but it's impressive that everything was fully reserved.
We were the first to be called and quickly seated by the window.
Our order included:
Cheers with beer
Pickled mustard greens as a beer snack
Mapo tofu
Five-vegetable fried rice
Hot and sour noodle soup
Everything was delicious.
The pickled mustard greens had just the right amount of saltiness, making it perfect with beer.
The Mapo tofu leaned more towards sweetness than spiciness.
The five-vegetable fried rice was fluffy and well-seasoned.
And of course, the star of the show was the hot and sour noodle soup.
I could drink that broth forever!
If I had to nitpick, all the dishes arrived almost simultaneously, making it a bit hectic to eat.
The noodles in the hot and sour soup tend to get soggy, so it would have been better to have that last, but we didn’t mention it beforehand.
As a result, we finished our meal in no time, spending about 45 minutes there.
It was a great meal!
