FLOR GELATO ITALIANO OSAKA

This gelato specialty shop is a 9-minute walk from Hommachi Station and has its Honten in Rome. Opened as its first location in Japan, the shop is said to have a refined look that brings Italy to mind.

The open terrace seating feels airy and makes the most of its location near Utsubo Koen (Utsubo Park), offering a quiet and comfortable place to sit.

There are always 15 gelato flavors available, with the lineup changing daily. They recreate the traditional recipes of the Honten, with natural flavors that avoid artificial coloring and a light, smooth melt-in-your-mouth texture.

The popular "Dark Chocolate" lets you enjoy a rich, deep bitter taste made with only water and chocolate.

The most popular choice is the "pistachio." Made with Sicilian pistachios, the richly aromatic paste is said to be surprisingly rich.

You can order an assortment of up to 5 flavors, so it’s also a good idea to mix and match your favorites.

I went because I heard they offer sakura (cherry blossom) gelato and lattes for a limited time in spring. There is also an eat-in area inside, but on a nice day, it’s great to enjoy them at the terrace seats. It’s also nice to take a break here with gelato while out for a walk in Utsubo Koen (Utsubo Park)!

They use not only natural ingredients imported directly from Italy but also seasonal Japanese fruit. It seems the fruit changes every month. My favorite peaches were already finished. In summer, refreshing fruit flavors are popular. In winter, they also have creamy ones. You can enjoy it all year round. If you feel like a taste of Italy, this is a recommended shop. On a nice day, the terrace seats might be a good choice too.

OLU BURGER KYOTO MINAMISENBA

A 3-minute walk from Hommachi Station, this cafe specializes in 100% Wagyu hamburgers and started in Kyoto. The interior has an American vintage theme, and it also offers open terrace seating.

Facing the street, it has a bright and lively feel that makes it easy to stop in.

The patty, made by aging kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu) and using no freezing or fillers at all, is packed with rich flavor and said to be outstanding. The house made bun is apparently designed to fully catch all the meat juices.

The restaurant recommends the "Double Cheeseburger," made with rich cheddar cheese.

Another nice point is the full range of side dishes, which makes it easy to stop by and use it as a cafe.

The "French toast" uses the same buns as the hamburgers, and they say the wheat flavor and toasted aroma are outstanding. The egg mixture soaks all the way to the center and is said to burst out with each bite.

The restaurant has a stylish interior, and there is terrace seating outside as well. The monthly burger, "Guacamole Salsa," is a Mexican-style burger that is perfect for the hot summer. The carefully made patty uses 100% Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Wagyu), and it is juicy with a rich, meaty flavor.

Even in Minamisemba (a district in Osaka), the taste here is irresistible. I had the double cheeseburger with bacon and egg toppings, plus fries and Cola. I was going to eat inside, but I ended up eating outside after all. It was delicious. It was a great meal.

Each item was carefully made, and the balance of sweetness and saltiness was just right. It was a lineup I could enjoy from start to finish without getting tired of it at all. The space feels very open, and the sunlight coming in makes it feel bright and uplifting.

A cafe located a 4-minute walk from Hommachi Station, right by Utsubo Koen (Utsubo Park). It also serves as a venue for art exhibitions and events.

cafe&bar TipToe

Located inside the hotel APA Hotel & Resort Midosuji Ekimae Tower, which is directly connected to Hommachi Station, this is a cafe and bar. One of its main draws is the convenience of being open all day, from morning to night.

The interior is unified with warm decor, and it also has open terrace seating where you can relax.

The strawberry-filled afternoon tea, available only each spring, is hugely popular. The three-tier tea stand comes with sweets and savory items, and a parfait is also served on the side.

You can also enjoy a cup of tea from the famous German brand Ronnefeldt.

The “French toast,” available A la carte, is perfect for a casual cafe visit. It is said to be a rich style of French toast, soaked all the way through with egg mixture.

The lightly sweet cream pairs perfectly with the bread, which has the rich taste of eggs.

・A luxurious strawberry-filled afternoon tea
For the drink that came with the set, I chose tea and went with Earl Grey. Since they serve it with a tea bag in the pot, it was nice that I could adjust the strength of the tea myself! They also had terrace seating, so on a nice day it seems like a great place to enjoy some café time outside.

Okini Coffee Midosuji Kawaramachi Ten

Originally a food truck shop, this cafe still sells from a wagon vehicle today. It focuses mainly on Takeout, but it also has open terrace seating only.

The cafe name "Ookini" means "thank you" in the Kansai dialect. The word "Ookini" is designed on the assorted varieties available drinks and food.

The menu mainly focuses on drinks such as coffee and smoothies. A popular drink that has been around since the food truck days is the “Ookini Mix Juice.”

It mixes banana, mandarin orange, and other fruits, and is said to be excellent for its fresh, juicy taste. It also seems you can customize it with whipped cream or ice cream.

They also offer light snack items that are perfect for taking the edge off your hunger. This is Ookini Dorayaki, a Japanese sweet made with castella-style batter and filled with anko (sweet red bean paste).

Along with the standard anko filling, they also have unusual variations such as custard and cranberry.

I stopped by around 2:00 p.m., after the lunch rush had died down. This place has been hugely popular since its kitchen car days, and has become a relaxing spot in the middle of the office district. It also has terrace seating, and on nice days it's fun to relax outside.

At the back of the building, there is an outdoor L-shaped sofa that seats several people, making it more than relaxing enough for a light drink. It is nice how it brightens the sterile street view of the office district. I chose the Ookini Reiko. I had it at a table in the back, and the bit of greenery there felt quite soothing. The coffee was fragrant and tasty as well.

CAFE itutu

A cafe lounge inside the hotel "HOTEL CORDIA OSAKA Hommachi." It offers a great selection of original sweets centered on fruit.

The open terrace seating has a calm atmosphere that feels far removed from the business district, making it a place where you can spend a relaxing time.

The "kisetsu no fruits no French toast (seasonal fruit French toast)" is made by soaking a baguette thoroughly in egg mixture, then grilling it until the outside is crisp and fragrant.

Another big draw is the gorgeous decoration with house-made sauce, cream, and baked meringue. From summer to fall, the seasonal "ichijiku (fig)" makes an appearance.

"Bobo Chacha" is a modern take on a traditional Southeast Asian dessert. It comes with plenty of fresh fruit in a coconut milk-based sauce.

The sweet-tart fruit and the rich sauce are said to come together in perfect balance, making this a light new-style dessert that's easy to enjoy.

The “Marugoto Kabocha no Cheesecake” is cute to look at, served in a kabocha (pumpkin) skin bowl. It is said to have a fresh, natural sweetness unique to vegetables and taste very good.

Sorairo COLOR

This Japanese dining restaurant and cafe is an 8-minute walk from Hommachi Station.

The open terrace seating offers a relaxing space surrounded by greenery, with a roomy layout. Another nice touch is that it has a roof. In winter, they even set up kotatsu (heated tables) to keep your legs warm.

While washoku (Japanese cuisine) is the main focus, the cafe menu is also extensive, with a wide variety of cakes.

The "Angelo" here is a light and elegant chiffon cake made airy using only the power of eggs. You can enjoy it with fresh cream and caramel sauce.

A popular lunch choice is the "Junishu no Oyasai Seiro Gozen," a set meal built around 12 kinds of Domestic vegetables. The vegetables are steamed in a wooden vessel called a seiro (steaming basket), concentrating their flavor and nutrients in the main dish.

It also comes with fresh sashimi delivered daily, making for a well rounded meal that feels like a true expression of health minded Japanese dining.

The restaurant has many sofa seats, plus terrace seating where you can relax in style while enjoying your meal, and since it is enclosed like a vinyl greenhouse, it does not get cold even in winter. At night, it might also be nice to enjoy your meal with a drink.

ぱりそら

At the entrance, there is an open terrace surrounded by greenery. What makes it unusual is that even though it is a terrace, it has tatami (woven straw mats)! It is a raised zashiki (tatami seating) area where you take off your shoes before stepping up. Even in the hot season, the cool mist makes it surprisingly comfortable. Inside, the lighting is calm, and there are also counter seats and cozy sofa seats where you can really relax.
