・Milk Cheese Balsamico
Balsamic and cheese just have to be good together! I’d been wanting to try it forever and finally got to, and it was just as good as I expected! More than anything, the service here is so kind and warm that it instantly won me over 100%! Kakigori (shaved ice) does make your body cold, but they were so thoughtful and kept bringing out hot tea again and again!

・Poteburuchi
This was my first time trying a savory kakigori (shaved ice), and I found that unsweetened shaved ice can be really good too. In particular, the cheese cream with black olives was especially tasty, and I also really liked how the buruchi syrup soaked through the whole thing.

umibudodayo

This is a favorite shop I’ve visited several times since it first opened! The way they shave the ice does not change from day to day, and it is always consistently light and fluffy, which I really appreciate. The flavor combinations are also great, and the portions are huge, so the sense of Manzoku is amazing.

・Kabocha (pumpkin)
The name is great, and above all, it was incredibly good. It wasn’t overly rich, and the cheese crumble and the texture of the pumpkin seeds added a nice accent to this well-balanced drink with a natural sweetness. I was also impressed by the cheese cream and shiratama (glutinous rice dumplings) served on the side.

Wa Cafe Tsumugi FOOD & TIME ISETAN YOKOHAMA Ten

A cafe where you can enjoy Japanese style sweets and meals. They serve kakigori (shaved ice) all year round, no matter the season. It is a 5-minute walk from Yokohama Station.

The interior uses mainly dark tones, creating a calm atmosphere. There are 100 seats in total, so it can accommodate many guests.

This place offers a wide variety of Japanese sweets built around the theme of “a fusion of wa and yo (Japanese and Western styles).” Their “tennensui no kakigori (shaved ice made with natural water)” uses natural water from a kakogan chitai (granite region), an area where magma that cooled and solidified deep underground later rose and eroded, appearing at the surface.

Because they shave this high purity ice into ultra thin layers, it has a light, airy texture.

The "Fukurofu Koshunen Omatcha (matcha green tea) & Hokkaido azuki (red beans) shaved ice" is a tasty menu item that pairs matcha and condensed milk. This Japanese style shaved ice also comes topped with plump Hokkaido azuki.

Some people also said it did not melt right away, so they could enjoy it as ice all the way to the end.

At Wa Cafe Tsumugi, conveniently located directly connected to Yokohama Station, I had the seasonal limited grape kakigori (shaved ice). It looked bright and colorful, and the fluffy ice was topped with plenty of grape sauce, spreading fruity sweetness and refreshing tartness with every bite. The sauce, with bits of fruit in it, had a natural sweetness, and I enjoyed it to the very last bite without getting tired of it.

After strolling around Chinatown, it was just too hot, so I visited in the mood for kakigori (shaved ice). Faced with the ultimate choice of strawberry, pistachio, and amanatsu (sweet summer orange), I ordered the small-size amanatsu, which seemed the most refreshing. Even though it was called small, the kakigori was as big as my face and very filling. The ice was very delicate too, and mixed with the amanatsu sauce, it was super delicious.

I really love rakkasei (peanuts) and sesame, so there were lots of other tempting items too, but this time I went all in on the rakkasei. The ice had a peanut aroma, and it was tasty even on its own. Eating it with the rakkasei whipped cream was just irresistible! It also came with raspberry sauce and panna cotta so the flavor never got boring. It was really delicious. It was a great meal.

It was my first time visiting the shaved ice shop TUKIMISOU, and it was a very beautiful, cute, spacious, and clean place. The "yakiimo avocado" shaved ice was delicious and came with plenty of avocado. I had it with extra avocado cream, sakekasu (sake lees) cream, and extra cream cheese.

とろろやまいも

I had the strawberry pistachio and the grape gorgonzola! Personally, I was really impressed by the latter,,,! The mix of saltiness, fruit, and the sweetness of the grapes was amazing, and I kept eating it bite after bite. There were also solid bits of cheese in it, so whenever I noticed one in my mouth, it really lifted my mood ⤴︎

This is the "Honkaku Ichigo Milk (Authentic Strawberry Milk)." It comes generously topped with strawberry sauce and is said to have a rich flavor. People rave that the strawberries taste fresh and light, making it outstanding.

The syrup is homemade, and its key appeal is the rich, luxurious fruit juice flavor you will not find elsewhere.

There are about 6 benches around the kitchen car, and you can eat in the shade, so even in the hot summer you can enjoy it. The owner takes orders one by one by himself and makes them with a traditional kakigori (shaved ice) machine.

The owner is also a really nice person and feels like an entertainer. This time I had the authentic strawberry milk and caramel pudding. The umeboshi (pickled plum) is also recommended! The fluffy shaved ice, chunky strawberries, and custard-like milk are excellent. It’s best to check Twitter to see if they’re open.

魚介だし

The kuri-n mont blanc (chestnut Mont Blanc) comes with a service where they pipe it out right in front of you! I loved how they piled it on so generously! The rich whipped cream and the light taste of the hojicha (roasted green tea) syrup went perfectly together, and it made for a very easy-to-eat dessert.

濱かずほ

The signature sunflower kakigori (shaved ice) is a slightly grown-up shaved ice with a citrus flavor and a refreshing bitter note. The fluffy ice is also nice because it does not make your mouth feel painfully cold. It seems to be a Yamanashi-focused shop, and in summer they only serve kakigori, while in other seasons they also seem to offer food items such as hoto (Yamanashi noodle hot pot), so I hope to come back and try those too.

SAPURA Yokohama Tokiwadai Ten

This shop serves kakigori (shaved ice) made with Okinawan ingredients and local specialties. It has a reputation for offering Japanese style kakigori that feels almost like wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets).

It is a small space with 3 counter seats. The blue walls give it a cool, refreshing feel and create an Okinawan atmosphere.

The house specialty is shaved ice made with zenzai (sweetened red beans), a dessert loved in Okinawa. Zenzai is made by simmering azuki beans in sugar until sweet and tender. They visited famous shops in Okinawa many times and were taught the recipe.

The slowly simmered kintoki-mame (scarlet runner beans) are soaked through with syrup all the way to the center, and their plump, chewy texture is excellent.

"Noko Pistachio (Salt)" is also one of the popular menu items. It uses seawater salt from Chatan (a town in Okinawa Prefecture). Rich in minerals, it has a mild salty taste.

It is topped with white cheddar, which is said to pair perfectly with the original pistachio sauce.

まさかーくん

It came with plenty of kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) and kinako (roasted soybean flour), with warabi mochi inside. The azuki (red beans) here are large and fluffy, and really delicious. I kept saying how happy I was while eating, and the staff member told me they were glad they could make their customer happy. The staff were pleasant too, and it’s a lovely shop. I want to go again.

魚介だし

The ice had a light, crunchy texture that felt pleasantly familiar. The waguri (Japanese chestnut) coffee had a can’t-go-wrong combination of chestnut flavor and coffee! The bitterness of the coffee brought everything together and gave it a nice grown-up finish. Inside were crunchy cookies, and I really liked that too since the sweetness was nicely restrained.
