Sweets Garden Yuuji Ajiki

Just a 1-minute walk from Kitayamata Station on the Yokohama Municipal Subway Green Line. This pastry shop is built around the concept of "a first-rate neighborhood cake shop."

The Western sweets are made by a chef who has served as head pastry chef at a famous hotel in Yokohama and also studied in France.

A wide variety of cakes are available, from popular standard items to seasonal limited-time offerings that make the most of seasonal fruits.

Their "Mont Blanc" stands out for its simple appearance. It is said to use a crisp, light meringue as the base, topped with cream made from French chestnuts and fresh cream.

The "Ajiki Roll" often sells out, and this ever-evolving roll cake uses only Special ingredients.

The sponge cake is baked every morning in a stone oven. It melts in the mouth and leaves a light finish, and people say it is highly satisfying.

After going back and forth, I chose waguri (Japanese chestnut) Mont Blanc, fraise (strawberry), Saint-Honoré tonka vanille, and pudding. I had them with coffee at lunch. More than anything, I was blown away by how good the fresh cream was and how moist the sponge cake was! So happy〜. No surprise there. These are sweets you want to eat again no matter how many times you have them.

・Ajiki Roll
I was surprised from the first bite. I didn’t expect this much of a difference! The sponge cake had such a fine texture, with an amazing balance of soft and airy yet nicely structured. The cream melted in my mouth and wasn’t too sweet at all, just excellent cream. A small amount of rich custard cream added a nice accent and gave it a deep, full flavor.

The atmosphere inside feels just like being in Paris, and the calm, classic space is very comfortable. Time seems to pass slowly here, and it’s a favorite place to spend a Special moment✨

The fig tart in particular was exquisitely good, and I took my time to enjoy every bite. The tarte fromage and chocolate cake also have a different kind of appeal when lightly warmed before eating, which is another nice point. The overall quality is high, so it makes sense that this place is so popular.

Pavlov Motomachi Honten

This popular pound cake specialty shop is known not only for its great taste but also for its bright and beautiful cakes. It is a 1-minute walk from Motomachi-Chukagai Station Exit 3.

The cafe space is said to be a lovely setting that feels as if you have wandered onto a street in Paris. The set menus available only for cafe guests are especially well received.

At the restaurant showcase, you can find a variety of cakes that beautifully blend good old design with modern design.

After a lot of trial and error with ingredients, blending ratios, and baking temperatures, they seem to have achieved a smoothness that overturns the usual idea of pound cake.

At the cafe, you can enjoy set menus centered on pound cake. The photo shows the "Pavlov Set".

The lower tier comes with five kinds of sweet pound cake, while the upper tier has salad and savory cakes, making it a popular choice for being able to enjoy a variety of flavors little by little.

This time, I picked the gateau fraise that stood out in the showcase. Two kinds of fresh cream with different richness were layered over a soft and airy sponge, topped with glossy strawberries. The milky cream and the fresh juiciness of the strawberries were in perfect harmony, and each bite felt like pure happiness.

Since opening in 1988, it has been loved by a wide range of generations as a shop rooted in the local community. The showcase is said to be lined with colorful, gorgeous cakes.

The petit gateaux are made one by one with great care, with close attention to ingredients, texture, aroma, and balance.

They use an original fresh cream developed jointly with a dairy maker. In addition to petit gateaux, they also offer a full selection of whole cakes that are perfect for special occasions and celebrations.

One of the popular items, the "Marjolaine," is a standard favorite available all year round.

The showcase is lined with cakes, macarons, and more, and the wide selection makes it hard to choose. They carry popular items that also make great gifts, including macarons recognized as a designated famous confection of Kanagawa Prefecture and their signature gâteau Pyrénées. What left the biggest impression on me was the apple pie, which I do not usually go for that much. It was on the firm side, but had an amazing bite, and the more I chewed, the more the good flavor of the pastry slowly came through. As I kept eating, I got the sweetness of the cooked apples, a nice level of acidity, and just a slight bitterness. The balance of pastry and apple changed with every bite, and each time I thought, this is so good. Apple pie really is delicious.

kippare

A pastry shop in a residential neighborhood. The standard cakes also looked tempting, but I was drawn to a whole tart buried under colorful fruit and bought it. The crisp tart crust did not disappoint, and the fruit, prepared with extra care, was also delicious, leaving me very Manzoku.

Nasshukattse

A 6-minute walk from Eda Station on the Tokyu Den-en-toshi Line. This shop offers traditional Viennese sweets made by an Austrian state-certified Meister.

Its homey neighborhood cake shop atmosphere is part of the appeal, and it is said to be a popular place loved by locals as well.

The cakes, made with solid techniques honed in Vienna, use as few additives as possible and are made with Special ingredients such as sun dried salt, Domestic wheat, and pure fresh cream.

In addition to Viennese sweets such as Nasshkatze and Kirsch, which bears the shop’s name, they also offer Western-style sweets like Mont Blanc and roll cake.

The restaurant’s top recommendation is the "Sachertorte," served with unsweetened whipped cream. You can choose either a petit gâteau or a whole cake.

The sponge is moist and soft, while the chocolate on top has just the right thickness and a crisp, crackly texture.

otnbklrv_shige.2

This Mont Blanc has a shelf life of just 60 minutes. That seems to be how long the meringue inside stays nice and crisp. The lightly sweet chestnut and cream, along with the crisp meringue texture, make it really delicious. Nashkatze and Sachertorte were both amazingly good too, and I definitely want to come back and buy them again!

The Sachertorte also comes with whipped cream as a set. The surface has a crisp layer of rich chocolate, and the aroma and flavor spread through your mouth with a full, mellow richness like gateau chocolat and a surprisingly noble character. The sponge inside has a light chocolate flavor and a mild taste. You can enjoy the difference in richness and texture between it and the chocolate on the surface.

They pipe the cream only after you order, and it goes well with the crisp meringue inside. It seems you can choose between chestnut and peanut cream.

The Mont Blanc at O Puti Matan left a gentle lingering note from the very first bite, and its quiet sense of completeness was what stood out most. The first thing you notice is the smoothness of the marron cream. The sweetness is restrained, carefully bringing out the natural flavor of the chestnuts themselves. Each time it melts in your mouth, a soft, natural sweetness slowly spreads across your palate.

The interior is spacious, with a European style antique feel and a comfortably moderate crowd. The weather was nice that day, so I asked for a terrace seat and sat down there. It seemed you could enjoy afternoon tea at a relatively reasonable price, so I ordered it without hesitation. The sweets had just the right amount of sugar and were not overly sweet, while still fully satisfying that craving for something sweet, so I was very Manzoku.

I got the amaou (premium strawberry variety) pistachio tart and gateau chocolat for Takeout. The pistachio tart had layers of milk cream and chocolate mousse inside rich pistachio cream. The gateau chocolat was not too sweet, with a flavor like dark chocolate.

The apple pie caught my eye, but this time I ordered the caramel apple cake and a hot coffee. The light sponge cake and the crisp bite of the sweet apples made it so easy to finish in no time. It goes really well with black coffee.
