Whenever I passed by before, the place was always full, and from how busy the terrace looked, I could tell it was a very popular cafe, so I had been curious about it. The menu had lots of options and it was hard to choose, but I ordered the limited-time hassaku (Japanese summer orange) and herring burrito. For my drink, I had an iced latte. The herring was tender and juicy! It had no off notes and tasted really good.

The white-based interior is simple and stylish. The staff are also warm and friendly. When I was having trouble choosing a drink, they recommended adding espresso to the lemon squash, so I ordered that. It was refreshing but also had a bitterness like lemon peel, and it was really delicious!

I went back and forth before picking truffle salt, croque monsieur, coffee cream, and croissant aux amandes, and every one of them was crisp and full of flavor. I ordered the set with lurouhan (Taiwanese braised pork rice). The welcome drink was a lemon and tougan (winter melon) drink. That first sip woke up my senses that had been in a haze until then. The lurouhan had tender, melty meat and tasted great. The douhua (Taiwanese tofu pudding) for dessert and the tea were also wonderfully soothing and delicious.

I found a café in Jiyugaoka, an area with lots of stylish, photogenic places, that has a bit of a different vibe. They play Western music loudly inside, but it somehow also feels homey, with a retro touch too, which makes it really interesting!

A cafe known for its great acai bowls. You can choose between L and S sizes, and on this day I had the S for JPY1100. They import their acai directly from Brazil, so you can also buy just the frozen acai. The acai is sweetened only with banana, and it was rich and had an excellent balance with the yogurt at the bottom and the toppings.
