Kissaten Seven

Kissaten Sebun, founded in 1963, is a retro cafe that has been loved in Sangenjaya for many years.

With green and red as the main colors, the interior still preserves the feel of when the shop first opened, and it is said to let you soak in a nostalgic mood.

The "Chocolate Parfait" seems to have light and airy whipped cream, with vanilla ice cream hidden underneath.

It is said to have an excellent balance of sweetness, and despite its hearty appearance, it tastes refreshing without feeling too heavy.

They also offer a wide range of classic kissaten (Japanese-style coffee shop) menu items.

The "Napolitan" is said to use thick noodles, with an excellent balance of the fragrant aroma of ketchup and its sweet-tart flavor. Reviews also say its somewhat nostalgic taste feels comforting and relaxing.

カレーネキ

The Omurice tasted, in a good way, like the kind of Omurice you make at home, and it felt nostalgic. The menu was cute, and the owner was also very nice♪ This is a great place for anyone who wants to enjoy a retro atmosphere!

Rain on the Roof

Rain on the Roof is a retro hideaway-style cafe tucked away on a backstreet in Sangenjaya.

It is a renovated kominka (traditional Japanese house), and the interior is lined with antique-style furniture. There are 36 seats in total, with sofa and table seating, and orders are placed by scanning a QR code.

The Homemade sweets are said to be very good.

The "Homemade pudding" has a pleasantly firm texture with a nice bounce. It is smooth on the tongue, and you can really taste the flavor of the eggs.

The photo shows the coffee jelly topped with vanilla ice cream.

The jelly’s pleasant bitterness is said to blend beautifully in your mouth with the sweetness of the vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. The crunchy texture of the cacao nibs on top adds a nice accent.

Although it has been renovated, old materials such as the pillars and ceiling have been left as they were, giving the space a somewhat nostalgic retro feel.

・Lemon pie-style rare cheesecake
The restaurant had a woody interior and a calm, comfortable atmosphere. I had a sweet made with milky rare cheesecake and a nice tartness from the lemon.

Majorelle Cafe

Majorelle Cafe is a retro cafe attached to an antique interior gallery. It is located about halfway between Sangenjaya Station and Yutenji Station.

With its high ceilings and spacious interior, it looks like a great place to relax and enjoy your cafe time.

The photo shows the popular homemade pudding.

It is a firm classic pudding with a nice vanilla aroma. The pudding has a rich, egg-forward flavor, and it is said to have an excellent balance with the slightly bitter caramel.

The "lemon pie" is said to be a hidden popular menu item.

The lemon custard is sweet and tangy, and people say the harmony with the Italian meringue is irresistible. It has a nice thick layer, and seems very satisfying to eat.

The retro feel of the furniture and miscellaneous goods is very charming. I ordered the quiche and salad set, and I had always thought quiche was firm, but the filling inside the tart was light and airy, and it was very good.

Hoshino Coffee Sangenjaya Ten

Hoshino Coffee Sangenjaya Ten is in a great location, just a 2-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station.

The antique-style interior is spacious, with 100 seats in total. The spacing between seats is generous too, so you can relax without worrying about the people around you.

The classic Hoshino Blend is said to have a well-balanced flavor that makes it easy to drink, according to many reviews.

It has acidity and body while still tasting clean, and it also pairs well with sweet desserts.

For the "kamayaki soufflé pancakes," you can choose from three kinds of syrup: maple, honey, or kuromitsu (Japanese black sugar syrup).

They say the surface is lightly crisp, while the inside is soft and fluffy. It has a gentle sweetness and is light enough to keep eating with ease.
