Purin (custard pudding) in Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture!

Sweets Labo Laugh & Rough

Located about a 1-minute walk from Ando Station, Sweets Labo Rough & Rough is a popular shop known for its low-carb sweets. They offer two kinds of pudding.

The shop is compact and specializes in Takeout. Various sweets are lined up on the shelves, and they all look so good that it is hard to choose.

Made without sugar, "Yasashimi Purin" is the shop's Most Popular sweet, and it comes in a wide range of flavors.

Some say its Creamy texture and rich taste make it especially good. Even though it is low in sugar, this pudding still lets you clearly enjoy its natural sweetness.

Ureshimi Purin is a pudding made with carefully selected ingredients. It uses plenty of eggs and has a simple flavor with mild sweetness.

The glass jar also comes with cute wrapping, so it looks nice too, which makes it a welcome gift.

It had a melty, soft texture and just the right level of sweetness without being too sweet, so it was really delicious. I’d like to come back and try some other flavors too. More than anything, the owner was cheerful, easy to talk to, and very friendly, which made me want to visit again.

massz

Originally, they were famous for their pudding, but they also make other Western-style sweets with reduced sugar. This time, I bought matcha pudding. It was not too sweet, but the flavor was rich and clear. It was really delicious.

Gokunama Purin Senmonten Keyaki

Kawadohotogawa Station is a 3-minute walk from Gokunama Purin Senmonten Keyaki, where the display case is lined with a wide variety of gokunama purin (super fresh pudding).

There is no eat-in space, and it is a Takeout-only shop. Some varieties sell out in the morning, so it is best to visit early.

The most popular flavor is said to be the gently sweet "Sweet." It has a rich, smooth mouthfeel and seems to melt away more and more with each bite.

Some people even describe the texture as silky. Many customers buy several different varieties and compare them.

The "Gokunama Purin" made with strawberries and blueberries is also recommended. It contains plenty of fruit, enough to cover the pudding.

The smooth pudding blends with the sauce, making this a dish where the balance of sweetness and tartness really stands out.

A pudding shop where you can’t buy anything unless you come first thing in the morning. I lined up and bought some. They have puddings that they torch on the spot with a burner and various other kinds too, but this time I bought the standard one. It was a rich and creamy pudding~.

はっぱの癒し

This is what you’d call nomeru purin (drinkable pudding). A rich, super soft, and tasty pudding. They have several kinds, from the classic one to blueberry and lemon, and every one of them looks tempting. The lemon and blueberry versions also come with fresh cream, making them irresistible for anyone with a sweet tooth.

Nanahoshi Purin

Nanahoshi Purin is a specialty shop for additive-free purin (Japanese custard pudding), located about a 2-minute walk from Funairi-honmachi Station along Shiden-dori (streetcar avenue) in Naka Ward, Hiroshima City. They use locally sourced ingredients from Hiroshima Prefecture.

The shop also has an eat-in space. Inside, the clean and tidy interior features a display case lined with several kinds of purin.

The pudding is made with a strong focus on ingredients. For the milk, they use Sunaya Gyunyu from Sunaya Bokujou, a long-established dairy farm founded in 1941.

For the eggs, they use free-range eggs from Mitsugi Nouen, and both farms are in Hiroshima Prefecture. They carefully select the ones that best match the pudding.

They offer several kinds of pudding every day. The menu may change with the seasons.

This is the "caramel pudding." It has a soft texture, and some reviews say it is so smooth you could almost drink it. The caramel sauce comes on the side, so you can enjoy it in two stages.

ハピメロくー

For the firm purin (custard pudding), I could choose from two sauces, slightly bitter and sweet, so I picked the slightly bitter one, but it was not all that bitter. It was an old fashioned custard pudding with a firmer texture than I expected. The smooth purin had a rich flavor and melted nicely in the mouth. The hachimitsu lemon purin (honey lemon pudding) tasted a bit like cheesecake, and when I poured on the lemon sauce, it became more refreshing.

I bought kinako (roasted soybean flour) pudding, Japanese black tea pudding, and smooth pudding. They let me sample the caramel pudding. The service was also very good, and there is parking next to the shop as well. It is lightly sweetened and very tasty. They also seem particular about using no additives, with a focus on eggs, milk, honey, and sugar...

Hiroshima Prefecture [Aki District] puddings!

Smudge Commu

Smudge Commu is a cafe attached to a hair salon, located about a 1-minute walk from Mukainada Station. You can enjoy lunch and dessert menu items here.

There are 12 seats in total, and the interior is said to have a stylish and calm atmosphere. Some reviews also say it is a comfortable space that makes you forget the noise of the city.

The pudding served inside a glass dome is popular for being cute and stylish. The pudding is said to be firm and simple, with the egg flavor standing out.

Fresh cream and a heart-shaped chocolate cookie add extra sweetness, making it quite satisfying as well.

They also serve parfaits made with seasonal fruits and ingredients. This one is a dessert made with figs that was offered during a certain season.

With cookies, cream, and other toppings, it looks lavish, and its beautiful presentation is part of the appeal.

柏木花音

This time, I ordered the pudding I had been looking forward to, along with a hot coffee. The pudding had just the right firmness with a pleasant springy texture, and the rich depth of egg combined with the slightly bitter caramel sauce for a taste that felt both nostalgic and refined. The carefully brewed coffee had a wonderful aroma and paired perfectly with the pudding’s sweetness.

Purin (custard pudding) served in a glass dome! So cute! The chocolate cookie on top of the whipped cream is in the shape of a heart ...♪*゚ The purin is slightly firm, light, and tasty. They provide extra caramel sauce, so you can adjust it to your liking.
