Oriental Lounge

Oriental Lounge is a cafe on the top floor of Mandarin Oriental Hotel Tokyo, about a 7-minute walk from Kanda Station.

The chinoiserie-style space has the feel of a stately residence, and the windows look out over central Tokyo, letting you enjoy a different mood at each time of day.

The afternoon tea, with a theme that changes each season, is popular. It features petits fours and scones with smooth cream and a crisp texture, along with savory items made with seasonal ingredients.

The black tea is served one cup at a time, with about 20 kinds available. Being able to compare different teas is said to be part of the appeal.

The high tea "The Night Stand," where you can enjoy savory bites and drinks with a night view, is also popular. It includes 6 kinds of Special savory bites and 1 drink such as alcohol or a mocktail.

It is said to be perfect when you want to fully enjoy a Special dining experience in a high quality and elegant space.

楽しいお食事

The view is nice, but the lighting, interior, and tea cups are all really lovely. It is a wonderful place where you can relax and enjoy tea while taking in the view. I think the atmosphere changes depending on where you sit. This time I had a sofa seat, and the plush sofa made me feel completely at ease.

The afternoon tea at Mandarin always has savory items that are all delicious too. The roast Ezojika (venison) with beets was especially great! I love venison, so I was so happy to get to eat it. I noticed when I was eating it that it had a heart-shaped beet on top, which was cute.

cafe,Dining&Bar 104.5

cafe,Dining&Bar 104.5 is a hideaway cafe located in a corner of Kanda-Awajicho, a 9-minute walk from Kanda Station and near Awaji Park. Jazz plays through the open, airy interior, creating a cozy and comfortable space.

It is a great place to step away from a busy daily routine and enjoy a meal or a relaxing time.

The "Tokusei Razania (Special Lasagna)" is popular for being hearty and very satisfying. Layers of Bolognese packed with the good flavor of ground meat and white sauce come together for a rich taste.

The cheese on top is nicely browned and said to have a crisp texture. It is also said to be a dish that pairs well with alcohol.

The photo shows the "tokusei carrot cake (special carrot cake)." It is accented with cream cheese that has a light yuzu (Japanese citron) aroma.

The moist cake is said to be enhanced by the texture of nuts, with the gentle sweetness of carrots coming through.

その辺のマサ

For the main, I went with the most popular item, the "tokusei razania (special lasagna)." Served in a piping hot dish, the lasagna had an excellent balance of rich Bolognese packed with the flavor of ground meat and a creamy sauce layered together. It was quite filling, but the refined flavor kept it enjoyable to the last bite. The quality of the food, the pleasant space, and the staff's understated yet polite service. Every part of the experience felt highly Manzoku.

・Special gratin packed with seafood flavor
Loaded with plump shrimp‼︎The crunchy texture of the breadcrumbs on top of the cheese is so nice⭐️The salad is also good, and the seasonal salad bowl is one of my favorite menu items too. I love the pleasant background music, so nice it almost makes you forget you're on a break.

Hangry Joe's Tokyo

Hangry Joe's Tokyo is a cafe located on the first floor of a building along Suda Naka-dori, a 4-minute walk from the north exit of Kanda Station. This spicy chicken specialty restaurant has become popular in the United States and operates about 100 locations.

Another plus is its all-day hours, which make it easy to drop by. The natural, stylish interior is said to have an atmosphere that makes it easy for even solo diners to stop in.

The standard pick is the "Hungry Spicy Chicken Burger." It is said to pair juicy chicken marinated in the restaurant's original sauce with spices that you can choose from six levels.

The savory heat of the special spice blend layers with a garlic-forward sauce, and reviews say it is satisfyingly filling.

The photo shows the “Hungry Waffle Chicken.” This is a plate of waffle topped with crispy, juicy Kara-age and enjoyed with maple syrup poured over it.

What really makes this place stand out is the meat! I went with the regular size, so it was not too crazy, but if you get the American size, it is really huge! (It sticks out way beyond the patty.) The outside is nice and crispy, while the inside is juicy, and it is super satisfying to eat!

jungol

The generous mound of cabbage coleslaw and the bright orange sauce with a spicy kick work really well together, giving a nice balance of richness, heat, and acidity so it never feels too heavy to the last bite. Level 2 spice is not all that intense, just enough to bring on a light sweat. If you are good with spicy food, you could probably go one level higher and still enjoy it.

Il Bacaro Alma

Il Bacaro Alma is located inside Coredo Muromachi 3, an 11-minute walk from Kanda Station. Based on the concept of a Venetian Italian bar, it has terrace seating where you can enjoy an atmosphere like a back alley.

Since it stays open throughout the day, it seems busy with customers at lunch and cafe time as well.

They offer a great selection of small plates that pair well with Aperol Spritz, the aperitif from Italy. One of the top recommendations is the "tennai jikomi (made in-house) potato fritto (fries)."

Crisp and fragrant on the outside, fluffy on the inside. You can really taste the potato’s natural sweetness, and the slightly stronger seasoning makes it a great match for drinks.

The classic popular menu item, “Pizza Margherita,” is also not to be missed. Fresh basil, tomato, and mozzarella come together on this pie, and while it is simple, it lets you fully enjoy the good flavor of the ingredients.

It is said to have a nicely browned outside and a chewy texture inside.

We mainly had pasta dishes, and depending on the menu item, they used thin or thick noodles, with sauces that were all very good. The gorgonzola and walnut gnocchi went really well with the salty cream sauce. We also enjoyed the trippa (tripe) and the shirasu (whitebait) open grilled dish.

I ordered my favorite hot lemonade and tiramisu. The tiramisu was topped with pistachio cream, and it came in a stylish dish that looked really cute. Of course, it tasted great too. When you order a dolce (dessert), you get a discount on drinks. The interior also feels like something overseas, making this a lovely place.

・Profiterole
The profiterole is filled to order with plenty of custard cream and fresh cream piped into a choux pastry, then topped with the lid, covered generously with chocolate sauce, and finished with sliced almonds. It is nice that the custard cream, fresh cream, and chocolate sauce all come in generous amounts.

Even one scone felt filling enough and very Manzoku, and the sweetness of the clotted cream was just right and really delicious. The Earl Grey had a clear citrus aroma that made me feel bright and cheerful.

・Cappuccino
They can make animal latte art for you. I chose a dog. Just as important, the taste was great too, with a good balance between the milk’s natural sweetness and the espresso.

・Homemade Meat Sauce Omurice
The meat sauce with a nice tang from the tomatoes goes very well with the butter rice. The texture of the ground meat and the tang of the tomatoes give it a homemade taste you do not get from store bought meat sauce.

美味しい弁護士

The Rice bowl centered on roast pork is seasoned in a way that feels good for the body, and it also includes boiled cabbage inside. It comes with plenty of shredded white leek, and the baby corn, salad, and soup like kenchin-jiru (vegetable soup) with vegetables all give it a wholesome feel. I also added an egg yolk, and it mixed with the meat nicely and tasted great.

みやちーにょ

I ordered the fish lunch from the Gushun Lunch Rice bowl on the lunch menu. (You can also choose the meat lunch.) The main dish, mackerel bukkake soboro Rice bowl, came topped with lettuce too, and it was good with a feel like Japanese style taco rice. The soup also had plenty of ingredients, and the small side dishes, asparagus with simmered eggs and a lettuce salad, made this a healthy lunch with lots of vegetables!

・Double Burger
It is juicy, with great meat flavor and overflowing juices that are hard to resist. The bacon is fragrant, with the saltiness, umami, and sweetness of the fat standing out. The fresh tomato has great freshness and is juicy, while the lettuce is crisp with a nice texture. It is delicious. The fries are also the thin type I like, freshly fried and fluffy inside. The salt level is just right, and they are tasty.

・Chili Dog
It’s loaded with chili beans, sausage, cheese, vegetables, and more. A generous amount of grated cheese is poured over the top too, so it’s very filling. This is good. You really have no choice but to cut it with a knife and fork and bring it to your mouth, but I personally like how it looks. There’s plenty of chili beans, and it has three sausages inside, so it’s seriously satisfying to eat.

つまさきさん

I ordered the curry Combo. It had that great, spice-forward flavor you only get from curry eaten out, and it was delicious!!The rice was saffron rice, and it also came with an assortment of sharply sour pickles as a palate cleanser. The texture of the meat in the keema curry was especially excellent. It had chunky bits of meat in it, and every bite was rich and meaty…

・Keema curry
The keema on top has takenoko (bamboo shoots) in it, which gives it a really nice texture. The presentation is very beautiful, and it is filling and tasty. The heat is mild, but it is still spicy, and the rice is cooked a bit firm, which feels just right.

코지(コージ)

・Bagel (Yurinchi (fried chicken with scallion sauce))
This time, I chose their signature nama-kome bagel (bagel made with uncooked rice) for the dough. The yurinchi was very crispy and tasty, and the bagel was nice and chewy, so they went perfectly together. The nama-kome bagel had the springy texture of a steamed bread while still feeling soft, and its ingredients matched the yurinchi very well.

・Lemonade
They are said to be popular for their fragrant hand-dripped coffee and bagel sandwiches, but on this day I ordered the lemonade instead. It was really good! It was not too sour and not too sweet, with an excellent balance, and even the lemon peel had been carefully removed. It is nice when you can feel this much care put into a single drink.

I went there for the pasta, but decided to try the croque monsieur instead. It was on the small side, with white sauce inside, and I finished it in no time.

This place serves as a cafe by day and an easygoing izakaya (Japanese pub) by night, making it perfect for after work drinks or a Quick Drink with friends. This time I only had draft beer, but looking at the menu, they also have a solid lineup of snacks and meal dishes. When you want a quick drink in Kanda, this is a reliable spot where you can enjoy classic bar snacks along with your drinks.
