Blue Label is a one-shot bar on the 6th floor of a building along Egawacho-dori, about an 8-minute walk from JR Shizuoka Station.
Inside, bottles are lined up all around the space, creating a calm retro-modern atmosphere. It has both counter and table seating.

The counter seats are appealing because you can enjoy the refined movements of the owner and bartender. The comfortable sense of distance also adds to the experience.
There is no menu, and you can order the kind of drink you like. The photo shows the dry gin based cocktail "Pink Gin."

The photo shows a "Manhattan" made with rye whiskey as the base and dry vermouth, a white wine based spirit blended with herbs and spices.
It is said to have a light mouthfeel and an elegant taste with hints of herbs.

First, a dry Moscow Mule. It is made with Swiss vodka "XELLENT" as the base and served in a copper mug. The well chilled feel on the palate stands out, the lime acidity does not come on too strong, and the spiciness of the ginger beer comes through just right. While still letting the vodka make its presence felt, the drink is nicely balanced overall and goes down smoothly even after a meal.

Open the door, and a quiet bar space opens up where you can relax and talk. The spacious interior also has table seating. I settled in with a Laphroaig soda, then had a gimlet. The balance of tartness and a slight bitterness was great. I had a very good time.

Bar Le Refuge stands on a backstreet about a 5-minute walk from JR Shizuoka Station. This authentic bar lets you casually enjoy a wide range of drinks in a calm space away from the bustle of the city.
Inside, there are only 10 seats, all at a solid one-piece wooden counter.

They offer a wide variety of cocktails. The seasonal cocktails made with plenty of fresh fruit seem to be especially popular. You can choose your favorite fruit and have a cocktail made with it.
They also serve hot cocktails such as Irish coffee.

The food menu also gets high marks across the board, with pasta, fries, sweets, and more all said to be delicious.
The photo shows the "Homemade Raisin Butter," which you eat on slices of French bread. It is made by blending creamy butter with sweet raisins soaked in sherry and rum.

As you would expect from an authentic bar, they seemed to have a wide selection of whisky, but they also had many craft gins, making it feel easy for a wide range of people to visit. The gin buck made with house-made ginger full of spice was outstanding. I think people who like craft spirits would love it.

The calm atmosphere feels very comfortable, and it almost seems as if time passes more slowly inside the restaurant. I had pasta and fish and chips with a beer, which also worked as dinner. After that, I enjoyed highballs and cocktails. Everything was made with care by the master, and it left me feeling satisfied in both body and mind.

It seems many people visit for the design as much as anything else. In a lovely space that feels like drinking in an art museum, you can quietly enjoy a conversation with your drink.
They offer a wide variety of short and long cocktails based on gin, rum, and vodka.

They serve dried fruit and pretz sticks as the otoshi (small appetizer), but the menu is drinks only. The otoshi is said to pair well even with cocktails that are not sweet.
This place is a good pick when you want to relax and enjoy cocktails in a stylish mood after dinner.

Looking back, I now think that might have been bad bar manners, but since I like blue, I made a pretty unreasonable request and asked if they had any blue drinks. Still, they kindly asked things like whether I prefer strong or light alcohol and made a cocktail that was even more beautiful than I had hoped for. I want to go again!

The comfortable, relaxed interior has both counter and table seating. It is popular and is often fully booked.

A striking back bar lined with an astonishing number of drinks is one of this place’s standout features. As you would expect, they offer a wide range of cocktails, and unusually for a bar, they also stock Japanese sake.
If you want to enjoy watching each drink being carefully made right in front of you, the counter seats come recommended.

All of the cocktails have a great reputation for tasting good. The photo shows “Echolocation,” which has a flavor like soda ice cream. It is said to be especially perfect in hot weather.

The master also had a lot of class, and being from Hamamatsu, he shared many interesting stories not only about Hamamatsu but also about other prefectures, so he was very knowledgeable and I had a really enjoyable time.
