VANITOY BAGEL Kurazukuri Honten

VANITOY BAGEL Kurazukuri Honten is a bagel specialty shop located in front of the Kawagoe Matsuri Kaikan in Kurazukuri no Machinami (traditional warehouse district), a popular sightseeing area in Kawagoe City.

The first floor is for sales, and the second floor has a cafe space. From the counter seats by the window, you can look out over Kurazukuri no Machinami.

Many people seem to be surprised when they walk in and see the display case neatly lined with all kinds of bagels.

The space on the second floor is calm and cozy, with the warmth of wood. Some reviews also describe it as a hidden gem of a cafe where you can relax in peace away from the busy street.

The bagels come in many kinds, from simple ones to those with spinach or corn mixed into the dough, and ones filled with vegetables or meat. Takeout is also available.

The bagels have a pleasantly chewy texture and are said to be quite filling. They also make a great lunch set with soup.

ni hao

I was Surprising at the wide variety in the display case, with so many options I had never seen before! Of course they offer Takeout, but since you can also relax and eat on the second floor, I ordered a drink and a bagel. The sandwich with satsumaimo (sweet potato) paste and cream cheese was absolutely delicious,, and the space was so quiet and calm that it felt very comfortable.

First, the salmon cream cheese. Take a big bold bite. Yep, this is really good! The cream cheese wraps around the rich flavor of the salmon. There is some spice in there too, maybe black pepper. I have had salmon and cream cheese bagels at all kinds of shops, but this might be the best one yet! It is incredibly tasty.

Cafe & Dining Bar Kingyotei

Cafe & Dining Bar Kingyotei is a cafe located in Kawagoe’s Kurazukuri no Machinami (traditional warehouse district), near the Nakamachi intersection and next to a white kura-zukuri (traditional warehouse-style) soy sauce shop. Its concept is goldfish.

The cafe is a renovated old kura (storehouse), and inside, the high ceilings and warm wood interior create a cozy feel. Goldfish decorations are displayed throughout, and real goldfish also swim in the tanks.

The signature drink is the “kingyobachi soda (goldfish bowl soda).” It is a juice drink with soda and lemon served in a clear glass modeled after a glass goldfish bowl.

It is popular for its cute look, with red goldfish-shaped kanten (agar jelly) inside that makes it look like goldfish are swimming. You can also choose the color of the soda, including blue, yellow, and pink.

The popular kingyo-yaki (goldfish-shaped cake) features fish-shaped batter filled with anko (sweet red bean paste). They also offer a version with roasted sweet potato made from Kawagoe's local specialty satsumaimo (Japanese sweet potato) added inside.

They also have food items like fried cheese and potatoes. The Takeout menu, which is great for eating while walking around, is also well received.

琥珀の母

When you enter, there is a counter where you order and pay first, then choose any open seat you like. I had the cute-looking kingyobachi (goldfish bowl) cream soda and royal milk tea, and since I had come all the way to Kawagoe, I wanted to eat some sweet potato, so I also got yaki-imo ten (sweet potato tempura) and age-yaki-imo (fried roasted sweet potato).

I made a reservation and visited on a weekday♡The inside had a cute atmosphere. The goldfish bowl drink was adorable, and a lot of people were taking photos of it. I also ordered yakisoba and octopus Kara-age, and both were very good. The kingyo-yaki (goldfish-shaped cake) had sweet potato inside and was deliciousー! It was cute and fun too!

Next to the building that sells freshly harvested fruit and vegetables, there is a cafe space. It is said to have a natural feel, with a mix of brick and wood.

You can also enjoy 100% tomato additive-free juice and coffee sourced from a local self-roasting coffee shop in Kawagoe City.

yoshikun

I had the strawberry parfait. This parfait is huge!! I’m so happy. From top to bottom, it has strawberries, vanilla ice cream with vanilla beans inside, whipped cream, sponge cake, granola, panna cotta, and then strawberry pudding〜. I even had coffee too, and it was more than Manzoku〜.

The phrase “freshly picked” green onions caught my eye, so I went with the negi (green onion) peperoncino. It also included the green parts of the negi, but there were no harsh notes or strong smell, and the sweetness made it a very tasty peperoncino! I had thought of this place as mainly a strawberry shop and only hoped the pasta would be decent, but it was as good as what you’d get at a specialty restaurant.

emiffy123456

I ordered the lunch set and the Omurice with sauce américaine. At this time, even with a beer added, it was only +350 yen. A very good deal. A café latte was also 350 yen. The vegetables were fresh and tasty too. The lotus root chips were a nice touch, and the plating was beautiful. It was really delicious. It was a great meal.

Right near Kawagoe Station! The atmosphere is nice, and while casual, it still feels stylish. The crowd is not just younger people, but families too. This time, we stopped by as our second spot. It is also great that they have a wide selection of drinks! I went with a highball with pakuchi (cilantro). The menu has ethnic touches here and there, which is hard to resist for anyone who loves ethnic flavors!

Their specialty is pancakes. They start making the batter by whipping egg whites only after an order comes in. People say the pancakes are light and airy.

They also offer a wide range of curry options. You can choose from "kuro-curry (black curry)," made with plenty of spices, and the spicy "aka-curry (red curry)," with your choice of toppings as well.

They also have a popular Banquet plan that comes with 7 dishes including steak and fresh spring rolls, plus All you can drink.

I ordered the avocado burger lunch set. I visited because I was drawn by the All you can eat pancakes, but the burger also had plenty of volume, and I was very Manzoku! The pancakes were tasty too, and I was so happy to eat so many. I’ll visit again!

I got the impression that everything was delicious, including the maguro (tuna) cutlet, anchovy potatoes, and carbonara. You can choose from two portion sizes, and we went with the regular size for the carbonara, but it was more than enough even for two people. We were completely full, and at this price, it felt very reasonable.

CAFE ANDON

CAFE ANDON is a quiet café located within the grounds of Senba Toshogu (Senba Toshogu Shrine), a sightseeing spot in Kawagoe and a nationally designated Important Cultural Property built in the 1600s.

The café has a natural feel with a mix of glass and wood. From inside, you can look out over the rich greenery of the shrine grounds.

The food menu focuses on local ingredients. The popular hot sandwiches use bread baked by a bakery in Kawagoe City with wheat from Saitama Prefecture.

They also source vegetables from local farmers. You can also enjoy a pleasant lunch on the terrace seats.

The signature carrot cake. They make it with carrots from Kawagoe, known for their nice sweetness and aroma, along with five kinds of spices.

The coffee, brewed with Special coffee beans selected by the owner, who used to run a coffee specialty shop, is also well loved. The cake and coffee pairing is popular too.

go2eleven

This cafe is in Kawagoe, near Kita-in (Kita-in Temple). It has terrace seating, giving the place an open and airy feel. The chicken curry had a nice kick of spices and was very good. The avocado shrimp and ham-and-egg hot sandwiches were also tasty and packed with fillings. The desserts were great too. I was able to enjoy a relaxing time at the cafe.

The carrot cake I came for had a nice sweet-and-salty balance, and both the cake and the cream were packed in nice and dense, with nuts and dried fruit adding a good accent, so I was very Manzoku! The coffee was freshly brewed and smelled great, with a rich flavor and a slightly bitter edge. The large cup looked stylish too and felt like a nice touch♡The food was delicious, and the atmosphere and location of the restaurant were also great.

Butterfly Bar/Cafe

Butterfly Bar/Cafe is located on Kawagoe Crea Mall Street, the busy downtown area in front of Hon-Kawagoe Station. It is on the second floor of a building and operates as a cafe during the day and a dining bar at night.

The interior has the warm feel of wood. There are counter and table seats, and the place stays open straight through from daytime to night.

They also offer sweets like cake, pancakes, and waffles. They also have items like cream soda, a colorful soda topped with ice cream.

It seems to be a place where you can relax and take your time while enjoying good food.

まさきち。

The Aburi Cheese Curry, made with plenty of onions from Awajishima (Awaji Island), looks great and smells wonderfully toasty! The melted, flame-seared cheese blends perfectly with the curry, spreading rich flavor and umami in every bite. The ingredients are also carefully simmered, and the sweetness of the Awajishima onions stands out in particular.

This is my third visit today♡♡I’ve completely fallen for this place. I had taco rice and enjoyed a Quick Drink while relaxing, and it really is so comfortable. The outside noise is blocked out, and the music has a nice, tasteful feel, so even when talking with friends, nothing gets in the way.

cafe Crescent KURA

This cafe is in the heart of Kawagoe’s sightseeing spot Kurazukuri no Machinami (historic warehouse district), near Toki no Kane (Bell of Time). You can spot it by its earth-toned walls and crescent moon motif.

Inside, the cafe has a bright feel, with light blue interior walls and wooden counters and tables. From the window-side seats, you can look out over the street lined with kura (traditional warehouses).

There are about five food menu items, and you can enjoy filling dishes like curry and gapao rice.

They also serve a local specialty called Kawagoe futomen yakisoba (thick-noodle fried noodles from Kawagoe). The thick noodles are boiled first and then stir-fried with sauce. You can enjoy the chewy texture of the noodles.

They also offer original menu items that pair desserts and drinks, perfect for cafe time.

The lemonade with jelly and lemon peel, and the shake made with strawberries and milk, are popular for being colorful and tasty.

miumi172

We ordered COEDO beer and Kawagoe futomen yakisoba (thick noodle fried noodles). It was our first time trying Kawagoe futomen yakisoba, and the thick noodles with the rich sauce made it very satisfying and a great match with the beer. It was more filling than it looked, and it left us nicely full. Enjoying tasty Kawagoe futomen yakisoba while looking out at the streetscape became one of our good memories of Koedo Kawagoe (Little Edo Kawagoe).

I stopped by for lunch in Kawagoe (a city in Saitama). I was shown to a window seat and enjoyed spending time while taking in the streetscape of Kawagoe. Since it is a cafe, I expected the menu to be more like light meals, but the portions were quite filling and I left full. The atmosphere was also nice, so I recommend it.

Yunuburizu

Un Breeze is a shop near the Ichibangai bus stop in Kurazukuri no Machinami (warehouse-style historic district), a popular sightseeing spot in Kawagoe. The first floor sells dried flowers, and the second floor has a cafe space.

The cafe has a charming atmosphere inside a kura (traditional storehouse) built in 1900. The antique interior is stylish, with dried flowers on display.

This hideaway-like restaurant offers a relaxed place to enjoy lunch or cafe time.

Their signature dish is the “Yunukura Lunch.” It is a one-plate meal featuring moist bread made at a nearby welfare facility, served with plenty of locally grown vegetables.

The moist and soft chiffon cake is also popular. It has a tender texture, and it seems to pair well with the cream.

You can also enjoy brightly colored drinks made with herbs and elderflower. Some reviews also said that the glasses and tableware are lovely.

Chiikawakawaiiyone

It is a lovely space surrounded by dry flowers. The staff also had a wonderful vibe, and I had a very pleasant time. It was very hot On-the-Day, but the inside of the shop was cool and comfortable. The food and drinks were also very stylish, and they made me want to order all kinds of things.

We made a toast with soda. The Yunu Breeze Soda, which has the shop name in it, is a herb and fruit soda that was lightly sweet, refreshing, and tasty. The Lavender Tea Soda had a gentle lavender aroma in the aftertaste, which felt really soothing. The kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup) kinako (roasted soybean flour) toast topped with ice cream was the clear winner, with plenty of ice cream, kuromitsu, and kinako on crispy outside, fluffy inside toast.

Cafe at This Time

Kono Jikan Cafe is a cafe located in Renjakucho Shopping Street, about a 5-minute walk from Hon-Kawagoe Station. The brick exterior walls and brown awning are the landmarks.

It is said to be a renovated house built around 60 years ago. The first floor is a simple, modern space, and when you look up at the ceiling, you can feel a Japanese touch.

The specialty here is "tebiki (hand-ground)" coffee. They bring you the beans and a grinder, so you can slowly grind the coffee beans yourself. It seems you can choose from several different types of grinder.

After you finish grinding, the staff carefully brews it for you, so you can enjoy a relaxed moment focused on your coffee.

The recommended lunch option is the "Onigiri Gozen set." You can choose 2 kinds from about 4 varieties of onigiri (rice balls), and the set comes with miso soup made with shijimi (freshwater clams) from Hokkaido and more.

The onigiri are made with freshly cooked rice and gently shaped into plump triangles. They are also served with side dishes that go well with the rice.

You can choose two fillings for the onigiri (rice balls), so I went with the owner’s recommended ume (pickled plum). And as a Saitama local, I couldn’t skip shakushina (pickled mustard greens). The way the onigiri was shaped was just right. The amount of side dishes was also perfect, and everything was very tasty, leaving me completely Manzoku. I also ordered the limited-time ume drink. The restaurant has such a stylish atmosphere and relaxing space that it makes you want to stay for hours♪

You can choose your preferred coffee mill and grind the beans yourself. I appreciated that the staff carefully explained the differences between the mills. The inside has a calm atmosphere, and the service was very polite, so I was able to enjoy my meal comfortably from start to finish. I would definitely like to visit again.

cafe Crescent ICHIBA

Cafe Crescent ICHIBA is a cafe about a 10-minute walk from Hon-Kawagoe Station, located near Taisho Roman Dori (Taisho Romantic Street), which recreates the charm of around 1920.

It uses a space inside a facility called Koetoko, which restored the large former Kawagoe Textile Market building built in 1910.

The 1st floor has counter seating, while the 2nd floor has tables set in an antique atmosphere, and there is also terrace seating.

You can enjoy oshizushi (pressed sushi), made by packing conger eel or mackerel together with rice into a mold. Unlike nigiri sushi, it is known for its tightly packed rice.

You can also enjoy hand-dripped coffee and hojicha (roasted green tea) with its nice toasty aroma from roasted tea leaves.

They also offer alcoholic drinks such as craft beer, Domestic whisky, and gin. It can be used as a bar as well.

vgainr1rc

A cafe tucked one alley off Taisho Roman Dori (Taisho Romance Street). Since it is a little away from the tourist area, it feels like a hidden gem. Still, the whole area is nicely maintained, so it is a comfortable place to spend time. The weather was nice that day, so I had an iced coffee on the terrace. The inside also looked stylish and had a nice atmosphere.

They also have sweets like hot sandwiches and cheesecake! I order 2 pieces of anago-zushi (conger eel sushi), 1 piece of shime-saba-zushi (marinated mackerel sushi), and an iced coffee. The anago-zushi and shime-saba-zushi are lightly seared and very tasty! It also comes with miso soup, oshinko (pickles), nimono (simmered dish), and a sweet, and they say the miso soup and oshinko come with free refills♪

K'sGrills

This shop is about a 5-minute walk from the west exit of Kawagoe Station. It specializes in casse-croûte (light meal), which means a light meal in French.

Inside the long, narrow space, there are a few tables for two. You can eat in or get Takeout.

Rather than sandwiches made with hard textured baguettes, these are made by sandwiching a variety of fillings in softly baked bread, which is one of their defining features.

Because the bread is toasted, the outside is crisp while the inside stays soft and airy, making it easy to eat.

There is a wide variety of fillings, including cheese, chicken, and salmon. Paired with French fries, they also make a good lunch.

Sandwiches filled with cream cheese or anko (sweet red bean paste) are also recommended for cafe time. They also offer a discount when you order them as a set with a drink such as coffee.

ペコ100%

Everything on the menu looked so good that it was hard to choose. I went with the Salsa Sauce Cheese Dog. I liked the nicely toasted bun, and the salsa sauce was just right, so it was really tasty. The cheese seemed like it had been melted, poured on, and then lightly torched? Or baked? It was not the kind of cheese that turns gooey, but it was not too salty either, and the overall balance was very good.

I went in because the sign in front of the shop caught my eye. I got the Most Popular teriyaki chicken sandwich, a small fries, and oolong tea for JPY1,100. It also comes with soup. I really liked how crisp and fragrant the bread was. The teriyaki chicken was also juicy and delicious. Even though the fries were a small, there were plenty of them, and I was very Manzoku.

Kuroneko Kissa

Kuroneko Kissa is a cafe about a 5-minute walk from the East Exit of Kawagoe Station. The main menu features galettes. A few times a week, you can also enjoy an authentic fortune-telling experience.

The interior has a calm, classical feel. Reviews also say the staff are cheerful and the atmosphere is warm and homey.

The galettes made with 100% sobako (buckwheat flour) from Fukui Prefecture are known for their chewy texture. You can choose fillings such as bacon and egg, and they are nice and filling.

They also have crepes made by mixing powdered bamboo charcoal into the batter. The crepes come with sweet toppings such as cream and ice cream.

They grind coffee beans that have been roasted within the past 2 months and carefully brew each cup by hand drip after an order comes in. They also serve lattes with the surface lightly torched for a toasty aroma.

They also offer tea with a choice of tea leaves and non-alcoholic cocktails, making this seem like the kind of place where you will want to relax and stay awhile.

ばるてん

The top recommendation has to be the galette, and since there are several kinds, you will probably find at least one favorite. While enjoying the salad topped with cute cat-shaped ham, you can wait for the galette to arrive looking delicious at first glance. It is pure bliss to enjoy the juicy fillings together with the chewy buckwheat crepe batter!

The vegetable loaded galette, the duck galette (it had no strong distinctive flavor and was easy to eat), and the salmon galette were all very delicious. It came with soup and salad, so it was a great value and left me very full. Cute cats were placed here and there around the restaurant, and the friendly, kind staff made lunch a lot of fun. I would love to visit again!
