Of course the oden (Japanese hot pot dish) is great, but the house-made gin highball has a first-time flavor that feels almost like yakuzen (herbal cuisine) or kampo (traditional herbal medicine), making it a drink that somehow feels good for your body even though it is alcohol. For the pepper flavor, they grind the pepper right in front of you, and the nice spicy kick becomes addictively good!

Sumibiyaki to Sake Karubo

At Sumibiyaki to Sake Karubo, you can enjoy rare drinks along with carefully prepared sumibiyaki (charcoal grilling) and standout dishes.

The interior is stylish and calm. It is perfect when you want to take your time and enjoy the food and drinks. From the counter seats, you can look out over the open kitchen and enjoy the live feel of the charcoal grilling.

The sumibiyaki tori (charcoal grilled yakitori) uses Okumikawa-dori (Okumikawa chicken), and you can enjoy cuts such as gizzard and seseri (neck meat). A few unusual skewers are part of the appeal too, including the “Foie Gras-like Liver” and the “Ko-hitsuji Chuck Eye Roll Negima”.

Among them, the tebasaki (chicken wing) is said to show just how slowly and carefully it is grilled.

This place is also well reviewed for its selection of rare craft beers.

You can also enjoy beers from overseas, such as Guillotine from Belgium and Red Stripe from Jamaica.

They offer many kinds of kushiyaki (grilled skewers), and each one is carefully made and very tasty. They also have a wide range of craft beers, which made the visit a lot of fun. The atmosphere inside and the service from the staff are both very good.

The menu was packed with items the owner clearly put a lot of thought into. Each yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) was fairly large, and you could tell there was real passion behind the potato salad and potato chips too. They looked good and tasted good as well.

The Private room is not all that spacious, but it is nice because you can relax and enjoy conversation. Instead of going with a course meal, we ordered what we liked, and everything was delicious.

We chose this place because we could order just the 2-hour All you can drink option, and because the horigotatsu (sunken floor seating) Private room meant we did not have to worry about the next table. Since it was not crowded, the food came quickly, and we were very satisfied.

Hamayaki Kaisen Izakaya Daisho Suisan Okazaki Ekimae Ten

Hamayaki Kaisen Izakaya Daisho Suisan Okazaki Ekimae Ten is an izakaya where you can enjoy fresh seafood shipped directly from fishing ports across Japan.

The restaurant is particular about freshness, using scallops and awabi (abalone) kept in the fish tank inside the restaurant. Located on the east side of Okazaki Station, it also offers easy access.

Seafood can be grilled as hamayaki (seaside-style charcoal grilling) on the tabletop stove right in front of you. You can grill it yourself, which makes the meal even more fun.

It is also nice that you can choose from a wide variety of options, including “ika no maruyaki (whole grilled squid)” and “fugu ichiyaboshi (overnight-dried pufferfish).”

One standout for visual impact is the “Bukkake-zushi Kobore-mori (overflowing scattered sushi assortment).” Under the seafood piled on so high it nearly spills over, there is rolled sushi. Some reviews said they want to order it every time they visit.

They also have a simple “fresh sashimi assortment.”

インドゾウガメ

We kept talking while eating one thing after another, from edamame to kaki furai (fried oysters), nama-gaki (fresh oysters), geso tempura (squid tentacle tempura), and aji furai (fried horse mackerel) (lol). The snacks were fresh and tasty, and the conversation really flowed.

True to a taishu izakaya (casual Japanese pub), every dish had a bold, well-seasoned flavor. The portions were filling, and with many Homemade dishes on the menu, I enjoyed the meal.

For a limited time, fresh oysters are JPY100. They were small, but had a rich flavor. While looking at the menu, the photo of satsuma-age (deep-fried fish cake) caught my eye. It had a light sweetness, and I finished it in no time.
