The restaurant offers a wide range of items, centered on sumiyaki-kushi (charcoal-grilled skewers), from chicken dishes to small plates that pair well with drinks.
The skewers use Nagoya Cochin and Kinso-dori chicken, and the heat and grilling are said to be just right. The good flavor of the chicken and the taste of the tare sauce, matured by being continually added to over time, spread nicely on the palate, and people say it goes great with drinks.

The Omakase course "Utage" is made with carefully selected ingredients and comes with 2 hours of All you can drink.
Along with grilled skewers, obanzai (Kyoto-style small side dishes) made with seasonal vegetables and fish are served. Each dish is carefully prepared and has a gentle flavor with a nice taste of dashi (Japanese soup stock).
とことこしがや
We visited as a party of two and sat at the counter. We ordered the skewer course, and every item was excellent. For drinks, we ordered Ki no Bi, and its refined taste was a perfect match. The atmosphere was also very nice, and we would love to go again.

This is my favorite yakitori restaurant in Kariya. The highlight here is the Omakase course with a skewer assortment and obanzai (Japanese home-style side dishes), and since the skewers and obanzai change from day to day, you can enjoy it no matter how many times you visit. Every yakitori skewer is juicy, and the obanzai is seasoned in a gentle way overall, so you could keep eating it forever.

They serve Kyo-gamo (Kyoto duck) dishes, freshly made Shinshu soba, and branded Japanese sake.
For something to pair with your drinks, the recommended choice is the "sashimi assortment." The sashimi lets you enjoy seasonal fish throughout the year, and some say they love how fresh and thick-cut it is.

Shinshu (Nagano) nihachi soba (buckwheat noodles made with 80% buckwheat flour and 20% wheat flour) is known for its nice aroma and smooth texture. Nihachi soba refers to soba made by mixing 80% buckwheat flour with 20% wheat flour as a binder.
The cold "tempura seiro soba" and warm "kamo nanban soba" are also said to be perfect To finish a night of drinks.

Duck is good with salt too, but the garlic soy sauce is spot on. It may not be in season, but it has a nice crunchy texture with a unique bite. The light sear is a nice touch too♪ This lightly seared hatsugatsuo (first bonito) is also great. So thick~い♪ It comes with plenty of yakumi (condiments), and the ginger really does a great job. I’ve been really into bonito lately, and this one is delicious\(^^@)/

I booked the soba and kamo (duck) course. Drinks were charged separately, so I felt it ended up being a little pricey, but for the course price, it was a very Manzoku price, and I got to enjoy tasty duck and soba. The kamo liver sashimi was really fresh and delicious. I didn't have any alcohol this time, so I'd like to try some next time.

The carefully prepared à la carte dishes made with Special ingredients are well liked. The lineup includes dishes that make generous use of seasonal vegetables, seafood, and katsuo dashi (bonito stock).
Top picks are the "Chef's Omakase course" and the "Hot Pot course." The All you can drink menu also offers a wide selection, and it is said to be very satisfying.

Many people say there are lots of à la carte dishes that go well with alcohol, such as shime-saba (vinegared mackerel) and hotaruika (firefly squid) grilled with soy sauce.
For Japanese sake, they bring in branded labels from all over Japan. If you are not sure what to choose, it is a good idea to ask the chef.

This time, I ordered A la carte, but it looks like they also have a course where the dishes come out as Omakase. I'm curious. I'd like to try that next time. Drinks with tasty otsumami (small plates to go with alcohol) are the best. It was delicious and fun. It was a great meal꒰*´∀`*꒱

Warayaki Ikka Kariya Ekimae Ten, a izakaya, is about a 2-minute walk from JR Kariya Station. In addition to its warayaki katsuo (straw-seared bonito), which is boldly seared all at once over high flames, it is also known for offering high quality fresh seafood at reasonable prices.
The simply decorated interior has both table seating and counter seating.
Photograph:なおかり
Warayaki (straw-fire grilling) is a traditional cooking method that started in Kochi Prefecture. By searing ingredients all at once over very high heat, it keeps the moisture and flavor locked inside.
The "katsuo (bonito) warayaki" is said to have a crisp, fragrant surface and a perfectly balanced rare center.
Photograph:サラサラ
In addition to the classic bonito, they also offer about 8 kinds of straw grilled dishes, including Kyo-gamo (Kyoto duck) and horse meat.
Among the more unusual options, the "straw grilled Camembert cheese" is popular. It is said to be a smoky, rich dish.

The wara-yaki (straw-seared dish) was great after all. This time, I had katsuo (bonito) wara-yaki. They also had wara-yaki options like Sea Bream and horse meat. It was fairly filling too, so it felt like a good deal. It is a nice spot for a quick drink.

Even if you think, “I want to drink that one I had the last time I came,” there are often times you can’t find it again, but that also makes it fun to discover something new, and I always look forward to finding a new favorite here. We stopped by for drinks in Kariya as our second spot. In summer, they have open terrace seating, and in winter it is covered with sheets while still feeling open and nice! I visit regularly. The tsukune (chicken meatball) with its limited best-by time is delicious, the simmered daikon radish is big and really satisfying, and the carrot comes as a whole one, but it is so tender and flaky with the broth soaked all the way through, and tastes great. For snacks with drinks, I of course ordered Kyushu specialties. I started with karashi renkon (lotus root stuffed with mustard miso), a Kumamoto specialty. The mustard had a nice kick, and it was really good. I ate it while going "hot, hot." I also had hatoshi roll (deep fried shrimp toast roll) from Nagasaki and tetsunabe gyoza (iron pot dumplings) from Fukuoka. Partway through, I switched to local sake and enjoyed the food and drinks. Fresh seafood selected with great care is a staple on the menu.
The “sashimi assortment” lets you really enjoy the quality of the ingredients, with generously thick cuts as its signature style. You can order it either A la carte or as part of a course menu.
The top recommended course is the “Ku Course” with All you can drink. The 9 dishes keep bringing out seafood one after another.
People also say that because the menu changes with the seasons, with items like fried dishes and aburi-yaki (lightly seared dishes), they leave Manzoku no matter when they visit.

"Jidori (local chicken) Kara-age," a drinking party staple loved by a wide range of generations.
Crispy on the outside and juicy inside, with flavorful meat juices flowing out. The springy texture and rich flavor of the jidori come through directly, and the more you bite, the more depth of flavor spreads.

The signature jidori (local chicken) grilled over a wire mesh is good on its own, but I especially liked it with yuzu kosho because the combination worked so well. The chicken nanban with house-made tartar sauce was hearty and filling, and it tasted great. The jidori mizutaki Hot Pot was also nice, whether enjoyed simply as is to savor the flavor of the chicken or with ponzu sauce for a different kind of appeal.

The interior is made up entirely of Private rooms, so you can enjoy your own private space. There also seems to be a large hall, making it suitable for Banquets with big groups. The menu focuses mainly on jidori (free-range chicken), but there is also a wide selection of other dishes, offering plenty of variety. Since it is a fully private room setup, I was able to relax and enjoy a pleasant time at a leisurely pace. The staff were also kind and polite, which left a good impression.

半ライス。
First up is the mentaiko potato salad. It’s rich and creamy with a clear mentaiko (spicy cod roe) flavor, a dish that really makes you want a drink. The negitoro yukke is super tasty, with a sweet-savory sauce and egg yolk mixed in. It’s the kind of dish that makes you want rice. The classic gyoza are filled with juicy meat and have that reliable great taste.

This Italian bar is about a 5-minute walk from Kariya Station, and it has a really nice atmosphere inside. Since it is in an inconspicuous spot, it is relatively uncrowded on many days! They also had several kinds of wine to enjoy, and the food was very good too! It was a place that definitely made me want to go again.

Sandaime Torimero Kariya Ekimae Ten is a casual izakaya (Japanese pub) about a 3-minute walk from Kariya Station on the JR and Meitetsu lines.

You can enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and whole grilled chicken thigh made with Seiryu Wakadori (young chicken), which is said to stay juicy and tasty whether fried or grilled.
The photo shows the “Momo Ippon-yaki (whole grilled chicken thigh) - Special Onion Salt Sauce -”. Its hearty portion, bold presentation, and house-made sauce are said to be the key points.

They also serve unique drinks such as original highballs, sours, and non-alcoholic cocktails.
For Japanese sake, they have a full lineup of options to enjoy with your meal, including Junmai Ginjo "Hakkaisan." They also offer an A la carte All you can drink menu.

I started with my usual order. A draft beer, a 5-skewer yakitori assortment, and French fries. After ordering another draft beer and playing around with the touch panel, I found unagikushi (grilled eel skewer) w That meant I had no choice but to switch to Japanese sake, so I went with Hakkaisan. Then I added aji no tataki (chopped horse mackerel) and fried eggplant wrapped in meat, and ended up treating myself to a luxurious solo drinking session with 2 more refills of Hakkaisan.

I visited Sandaime Torimero Kariya Ekimae Ten. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) made with the first generation's secret jiggly sauce, and the third generation's final take, Seiryu Wakadori (young chicken) momo ippon-yaki (whole grilled thigh), was very filling. The restaurant is on the first floor of the building, and the interior was quite spacious, with table seating and zashiki (tatami seating). It was convenient to order from a touch panel, and the food came quickly.
