Takamaru Denki, about an 8-minute walk from the New South Exit of JR Shibuya Station, is an izakaya (Japanese gastropub) where you can enjoy creative multinational dishes that go beyond borders.
The place has a lively yet hideaway-like atmosphere, where you can enjoy an exciting break from the everyday. It mainly has counter seating, and standing drinks are also possible.

They offer a wide range of creative dishes that pair well with drinks, and the "shiru-gyoza (soup dumplings)," made with Special selected wrappers and fillings, is one of their signature menu items.
Bite into the chewy wrapper and juicy meat juices spill out, while the soup's gentle flavor is hard to resist.

The fluffy and melty "yaki tamago (grilled egg)" cooked on a Teppan-yaki is also a must-order dish. You can choose from 2 types of sauce.
The "kurozu oyster sauce (black vinegar oyster sauce)," enjoyed with oyster and wood ear mushroom toppings, is said to pair perfectly with the thick sauce and oysters.

Melty soup [soup gyoza]. This dish has a smooth texture, and the thick, gentle Japanese style soup made with katsuobushi (bonito flakes), dried scallops, ago (flying fish), and more really soaks into your body. If you like pakuchi (cilantro), you can add extra ◎

The "Genovese sui-gyoza (boiled dumplings)" is a new style of gyoza with a basil-forward flavor, and its fresh finish is said to keep you coming back for more.
The Banquet course, which lets you enjoy the restaurant's recommended dishes including gyoza, is also a great choice. There is also an All you can drink option, making it perfect for having a lively time with everyone.
Pishi Pia
The mara gyoza (numbing spicy dumplings) had a solid kick of numbing heat and spice, with an addictive savory taste that made the drinks go down easy. The zha cai (pickled mustard stem) we ordered as a palate cleanser had just the right amount of saltiness and paired perfectly. With Taiwan Beer, it instantly lifted the mood, making it just right for days when you want a quick drink. The atmosphere inside was cozy too, and one nice point was being able to relax and enjoy yourself without feeling formal.

First, the signature Teppan-yaki stick gyoza. This is gyoza at its best. Chewy wrappers filled with plenty of meat filling. When you pour soy sauce and vinegar directly onto the iron plate, the rich sizzling sound really gets your appetite going. Of course, I also ordered the shrimp boiled dumplings. These also had chewy wrappers and plump shrimp. You can enjoy them without feeling heavy.

A gyoza bar that is just right when you want a light drink in Shibuya. Overall, it is an izakaya (Japanese pub) that is cheap and casual, but the gyoza was better than expected. The gyoza is a great deal all around. Even though the price is low, the wrapper is really good, with a nice balance between the toasty flavor of the browned surface and the chewy texture. At this price point, the quality makes it well worth visiting for the gyoza alone.

You can choose pan-fried gyoza (dumplings) and boiled gyoza (dumplings) from several menu options. Among them, the specialty nikujiru gyoza (juicy pork dumplings) is one dish you will definitely want to try, and it is said to be so tasty that drinks go down easy.
Since the gyoza can be ordered in sets of 3 to 4 pieces, it is nice that you can try a range of different kinds a little at a time.

The “nomeru tsukune (so soft you can drink it)” is also one of the recommended menu items. You can choose the seasoning from tare sauce, green onion salt, or grated daikon with ponzu.
The tsukune is said to have a light, fluffy texture and be so tender it falls apart with chopsticks. Some reviews also said each piece was bigger than expected.
Given the nature of Shibuya, the area sees lots of foot traffic and stays lively all the time, but once you step inside, it does not feel overly noisy. Instead, it has just the right amount of energy, making it a good fit for an after-work drink or a casual get-together with friends. It does not feel pretentious, and in a good way, it is a space where you can relax and feel at ease.

For first time visitors, the recommended choice is the "House Specialty! Ootora Yaki Gyoza (pan-fried dumplings)," made with plenty of Domestic vegetables. They seem juicy and packed with the good flavor of vegetables.
The "Hakata Hitokuchi Yaki Gyoza (bite-size pan-fried dumplings)," which comes with 8 mini dumplings, seems to have a smooth texture and pairs perfectly with drinks. They also offer sui-gyoza (boiled dumplings) and age-gyoza (deep-fried dumplings).
A must-order dish is the ever-popular "Fukkatsu! Atsugiri Beef Tongue Yaki," made by a former gyutan (Beef Tongue) shop.
They carefully prep the Beef Tongue, chosen for its quality, then finish it on the Teppan-yaki at just the right doneness. Even though it is thick-cut, it is said to be juicy and pleasantly tender.

Since this is a restaurant for gyoza (dumplings) and Beef Tongue, I recommend ordering both. The gyoza were a little different from regular gyoza, with ginger and renkon (lotus root) inside, and they were really tasty. The Beef Tongue was also thick cut, tender, and excellent!

This is a gyoza izakaya in the drinking district on the north side of Mark City. The hitokuchi gyoza (bite-size dumplings) are covered with a thin crispy skirt and arranged in a circle. The restaurant's top recommendation, "tetsunabe gyoza (iron pan dumplings)," is a dish that recreates the authentic flavor of Hakata yatai (food stalls).
Cooked in an iron pan, the dumplings are crisp on the outside and juicy inside, and they are said to taste great even without any dipping sauce. They also offer a house-made gyoza sauce.

If you want to fully enjoy authentic Hakata (a district in Fukuoka) flavors, you should also order the superb mentaiko motsu Hot Pot. You can choose from two sizes: small pot and medium pot.
The soup stands out for bringing out the good flavor of mentaiko (spicy cod roe) with ago dashi (flying fish stock), and you can enjoy the rich taste of butter and a sharp kick of heat.
