Torimasa, located near the Miyazaki Prefectural Office a 5-minute drive from Miyazaki Station, is an izakaya where you can enjoy authentic yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) prepared by an owner who trained at famous restaurants in Tokyo.
The interior is said to be a cozy space filled with the warmth of wood. In addition to counter seats where you can enjoy the live feel of the cooking, the restaurant also has Private room and Semi-private room seating.
Photograph:rari3702
The yakitori made with fresh Kuroiwa jidori (free-range chicken) from Miyazaki is said to be grilled with the heat adjusted for each cut to bring out the most umami.
The crisp, nicely browned surface is irresistibly fragrant, while the meat stays juicy inside.
They also have a full lineup of à la carte dishes besides yakitori, so you will want to enjoy them with the wide variety of drinks from Miyazaki.
The photo shows "tori no sumibiyaki (charcoal grilled chicken)," a famous local dish from Miyazaki Prefecture. People say the cooking is spot on, with the great flavor you only get from charcoal grilling.
金魚山
Torimasa, a well-known spot behind City Hall. The course meal served in this refined space feels nothing like a typical yakitori restaurant and makes for a truly blissful time. Each skewer is carefully grilled, packed with the rich flavor of chicken, and the more you bite, the more juices flow out. The quality of the course was so high that I ended up ordering extra without thinking. This is a special place that will take your night in Miyazaki (Miyazaki) up a notch.

The restaurant had a calm and lovely atmosphere. Of course, every yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) was plump and springy with lots of umami, and everything I tried was delicious! The vegetable sticks in the course were a bit generous, so they worked well as a palate cleanser... The simmered dish was nicely seasoned, and the chawanmushi (savory egg custard) was also tasty with chicken thigh in it!

On this day, they served hirame (flounder) from Shimane and maguro (tuna) from the waters off Miyazaki, and everything was said to be delicious. You can also feel the care that went into the plating.

The five bite-size otoshi (small appetizers) were delicious, and just right for enjoying drinks on their own. I definitely wanted to try the chicken liver sashimi topped with lots of green onion, which gets great reviews, so I ordered it. The sesame oil and green onion flavors paired perfectly with the rich, full-bodied liver! It looked beautiful and tasted great, and the calm atmosphere inside was so comfortable that I ended up staying longer than I expected.

They offer a great selection of local dishes such as Miyazaki-gyu (Miyazaki beef) and chicken nanban.
Their signature sumibi momo-yaki (charcoal grilled chicken thigh) comes in two types: a tender version and a chewier, more substantial version. It is also a good idea to share both with the table and enjoy comparing the two.

We sat at the counter, where we could watch the sumibiyaki (charcoal grilling) up close. In front of the counter was a whole lineup of isshobin (1.8-liter bottles) of shochu from Miyazaki. We ate our way through Miyazaki with katsuo tataki (seared bonito), tori sumibiyaki (charcoal grilled chicken), chicken nanban, basashi yukhoe (seasoned raw horse meat), and more. We also drank our way through Miyazaki shochu, and it turned into the best final supper of our Miyazaki trip.

One of the big draws is the wide selection, from meat dishes made with jidori (local free-range chicken) and "Miyazaki beef" to seafood caught in the Hyuganada (Hyuga Sea). Both meat lovers and seafood lovers can leave Manzoku.
There is also a full lineup of course menus available for groups of 2 or more, making it easy to enjoy all the popular dishes without missing a thing.

They offer a wide range of drink options unique to Miyazaki (Miyazaki Prefecture), and the place is popular not only with locals but also with people visiting from outside the prefecture.
They also serve fresh-squeezed citrus drinks from Miyazaki, which are great when you want something crisp and refreshing. Miyazaki shochu is available in three sizes: glass, tokuri (ceramic sake flask), and 5-go bottle.
タカサンブラック
When you come to Miyazaki, you really have to have Imo Shochu. I was happiest of all that they serve Kobiki BLUE! The food starts with cucumber as an otoshi (small appetizer), which is just right♪ Then the sashimi, jidori (local chicken), and tempura go great with the drinks. The Miyazaki beef Teppan-yaki steak was tender, and because it was lean, I could really taste the meat’s natural flavor.

・Miyazaki-gyu (Miyazaki beef) seared nigiri sushi
The Miyazaki-gyu is so generous you can barely see the shari (sushi rice). It comes with lemon and wasabi. The well-marbled beef is tender and melts in your mouth. I finished it in no time. The yakumi (condiments) and the searing keep the fat from feeling heavy. It was delicious.

They also offer Ise ebi (spiny lobster) sashimi and ikejime maaji (horse mackerel) served whole as sashimi, and after you order, they take them from the fish tank and prepare them on the spot.

Reviews say that if you want to enjoy Miyazaki (a region in southern Japan) specialties, you can’t go wrong with this place. You can try a full range of local dishes.
They offer a wide lineup, including chicken nanban, momo-yaki (charcoal grilled chicken thigh), and dishes made with Miyazaki beef, so you’ll want to enjoy them with Miyazaki shochu (Japanese distilled spirit).
アキタン34
If you come to this restaurant, you can try almost all of Miyazaki specialties. The recommended drink is the fresh-squeezed sour. This time, we had fresh-squeezed hebezu (a citrus fruit) and pineapple sours. The hebezu was large. It had nice acidity and aroma. The real surprise was the pineapple. They make the sour by firmly squeezing a pineapple that is softer than you might expect. It was quite tasty.

The fish is just so good! They also have a full menu with items like mehikari (greeneye fish) Kara-age and jidori (local chicken). Even the soft drinks are packed with original menu items, maybe created by the staff. If you are not sure where to go in Nishitachi, you cannot go wrong with this place!

They also have a great selection of high-quality Miyazaki brand pork dishes, and the "Maruzo Meibutsu Menchi Katsu" is a must-try. It is packed with juicy Marumi-buta pork, and it is said to taste great even without sauce.

Since the restaurant first opened, the ever popular menu item samgyeopsal uses Miyazaki brand pork called Kinako-buta (Kinako Pork).
It is known for its tender texture and natural sweetness, and it goes perfectly with the sesame oil and salt sauce. Among the many course menus, the "Samgyeopsal with 2 hours of All you can drink" course is the most popular.

As for the food, the main shabu-shabu featured pork and plenty of vegetables, and it even came with soba noodles To finish. On top of that, there was an assortment of sashimi, charcoal grilled chicken, deep-fried satoimo (taro) coated with arare (rice cracker bits), chawanmushi (savory egg custard), a vegetable salad, and more, and the number of dishes and their quality really surprised me. Every dish was delicious. It was a very Manzoku meal.

We had a social gathering here today. It was a course with All you can drink, and they served a lot of food, so it felt like a great deal. Even though it was a weekday, the place was almost full. The chicken nanban was also quite good.

They offer torafugu (tiger pufferfish) from Miyazaki, suppon (soft-shelled turtle), and seasonal seafood, all said to be so tasty that drinks keep flowing.
You can enjoy torafugu in a wide range of preparations, including Hot Pot and Kara-age. The torafugu sashimi called "tessa" seems to let you enjoy its firm texture and the distinctive flavor unique to fugu.

If you want to enjoy home style cooking, the homemade “kani cream korokke (crab cream croquette)” is also recommended.
It is served piping hot and freshly made, and you can enjoy its soft, airy texture. It also comes with tartar sauce and salad, so it looks satisfyingly filling.

The fish really is great after all. Since I had the next day off this time, I had some Japanese sake. I asked the master to choose, and he served Morishima shiboritatede (freshly pressed). It was so good that once I started drinking, the snacks to go with it naturally kept coming too.

Every dish was very good, but the grilled soft roe was especially delicious. It also came with a nice little touch, served on top of kombu kelp. It really feels Special✨Light and rich.

I had heard that Miyazaki Prefecture is known for great chicken dishes, and it really was that good! The jidori aburi-yaki (charbroiled local chicken) in particular was so tender it surprised me, unlike anything I had tried before. Also, though I do not have a photo, I also ordered the shirasu (whitebait) and salmon yukhoe Rice bowl. That was tasty too. The dishes came out at a nice pace, so I was able to relax and enjoy the meal.

It was in a busy downtown area, so it was convenient and close to the hotel. I usually do not like basashi (horse sashimi), but it was very fresh with no off notes, and it was very good. The katsuo no tataki (seared bonito) was the same. The chicken wings had a sweet and savory seasoning that suited my taste.

They also offer a full lineup of seafood dishes that pair perfectly with drinks. The “Gokujime Sengyo (carefully finished fresh fish)” is said to stand out for its strong sweetness and lack of off notes thanks to their special fish killing and handling method.
Beyond sashimi, their irori-yaki (hearth-grilled) seafood dishes are also popular. If you're getting together with a group, a course meal is a great fit for enjoying a variety of recommended dishes.

The mehikari (greeneye fish) had just the right amount of salt, and there was curry powder to change up the flavor. The jidori tataki (lightly seared local chicken) was also grilled over charcoal, so it had a nice smoky aroma that went really well with ginger. The shrimp in the ebi mayo (shrimp with mayonnaise) were plump and had a great bite, and it was incredibly good. Next time, I’d like to try eating in the room with an irori (sunken hearth).

A local friend took me to this place. I was able to enjoy good food and good drinks for the first time in a while. The staff were also friendly, which was nice. The prices were reasonable, and it was a Manzoku place. It was also easy to get to, just a short walk from Ichibangai (First Avenue). If you are visiting Miyazaki (Miyazaki), definitely give it a try.
