Starting with tuna from Yamakou, then Appetizers, a sashimi assortment, grilled skewers of maguro (tuna), a clear soup with hamaguri (hard clam), and to finish, an extra large saba (mackerel) and ikura (salmon roe) rice dish‼️ Everything was delicious, and there was nothing to complain about. They neatly wrapped up the remaining half of the rice from the Clay Pot. There was also a wide selection of drinks in the All you can drink plan, and I ended up drinking too much.

The pork-wrapped negi and fresh oysters were also delicious. Definitely give this place a try when you want a good meal in Sancha.

The round circular counter makes it easy to chat with the people around you and keeps the conversation flowing. More than anything, though, the snacks and small plates are great. The aburi shime-saba (seared cured mackerel) is amazing, and the nikomi (stew) is melt-in-your-mouth, with cuts including Honeycomb tripe, which is a nice touch. The oden (Japanese stew) with chicken wings is the best! They are so tender and delicious.

The recommended dish this time of year is grilled Pacific saury with salt! This very filling Pacific saury had a nicely browned skin, and the aroma of its rich fat rose softly from it. It was great eaten with grated daikon radish for a light, refreshing taste. Another dish was the house specialty potato salad. It comes topped with a soft-boiled egg, and when you mix it in as you eat, it makes the perfect snack to go with drinks. This is the kind of dish that makes the drinks keep coming✨

Sancha

Sancha is a popular restaurant with a full lineup of izakaya dishes centered on seafood.

The interior has a warm wooden feel, with counter seating as the main setup along with table seats and a standing drinking area, which makes it easy to enjoy dinner in a casual way.

The top recommendation is the "atemaki (snack rolls)" menu, with about 10 kinds available, including "Aburi Salmon Ikura," "Menegi Road," and "Iki Gyu (Iki beef) Tataki〜Egg Yolk Sauce〜."

"Kunsei Toro Taku" is said to be an excellent dish, with a great balance of rich toro flavor and the crisp texture of takuan (pickled daikon).

"Today’s Otsukuri (sashimi)" comes in 4 different daily selections.

The super fresh seafood is all cut thick and very satisfying to eat! Depending on the day, they may also offer aburi kinki (seared channel rockfish). The assortment can be ordered for 2 people or more.

This was a well-known spot in Sangenjaya that impressed with its attentive service, delicious food, and the variety and generous portions of Japanese sake! Every single dish was filling, and the slices in the ozukuri (sashimi assortment) were surprisingly thick, so much so that the deluxe assortment alone felt like enough to fill you up.

While looking for a place for Japanese sake, I came across a great spot. They even had Nakanaka Japanese sake that you do not often find, and I was glad I could try all kinds, from junmai (pure rice sake) to daiginjo (premium sake)! The atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly and easy to talk to, so it felt very comfortable! I would love to visit again.

Yakitori Kamawanu

Yakitori Kamawanu, about a 2-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station, is an izakaya on Suzuran-dori where you can enjoy authentic yakitori.

The compact interior is a modern space with white decor. It has a casual atmosphere, making it easy to drop in and enjoy yakitori and Japanese sake.

Yakitori is available to order either as a course or a la carte.

They offer everything from standard momo (thigh), negi (green onion), and tebasaki (chicken wings) to rare cuts. The most popular item is said to be “chochin (grilled undeveloped egg and oviduct).” With one bite, the egg yolk pops and a rich, mellow flavor spreads across your palate.

The "negima (chicken and scallion skewer)" here is the type where negi (Japanese long onion) is wrapped in chicken skin.

The chicken is slowly and carefully grilled over charcoal, giving the skin a crisp and fragrant finish, and the sweetness of the negi really stands out. It is said to be so good that many people end up ordering more.

They grill the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) over charcoal, and it tasted absolutely amazing!! Oden (Japanese hot pot dish) is also a must for the coming season!! Above all, you should definitely try the isobe-mochi (grilled rice cake wrapped in seaweed)!! The way the mochi is grilled, the sauce, the nori, everything is perfect!!

We had chawanmushi (savory egg custard) with aosa (green laver) as the otoshi (small appetizer). It was a bit of a surprise, and I think it was my first time having chawanmushi as an otoshi. It had a gentle seasoning and tasted great. The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), which we had really come for, was also very good and went perfectly with the drinks.

Toritetsu Sangenjaya Ten

Toritetsu Sangenjaya Ten is an izakaya centered on yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), just a 1-minute walk from Sangenjaya Station.

Inside, where jazz plays as background music, there are lively counter seats as well as spacious table seats where you can relax. They say you can fully enjoy the drinks and food in the laid-back atmosphere.

Since this place has a strong reputation for great yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), one of its most popular items is the tsukune (chicken meatball skewer), which they grill from raw.

It is mixed with ukokkei (Silkie chicken), and its soft, sticky texture is said to be addictive. When you coat it with egg yolk, it gains a mellow richness, and it also pairs well with wine.

"Gatsun to Tebasaki Punch," available to order from just 1 piece.

The chicken wings are marinated in a special sauce made with garlic, herbs, and more, then carefully grilled. The skin is said to be crisp and fragrant, while the meat stays juicy.

I used to think sister restaurant spots had a lively, noisy feel, but this place had a calm atmosphere. The otoshi (small appetizer) was warm dashi tofu, and it was very good. The main yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) had a nice balance of salt and tasted great.

猫飼いたすぎるマン

Every yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) was delicious, and the sasami (chicken tenderloin) and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) were especially tender! Even the otoshi (small appetizer) seemed thoughtfully made, with tofu prepared using chicken soup? And it was tasty too! Since every place in Sancha (Sangenjaya) is always crowded, this might be a surprising hidden gem!
