Toriyaki Sasaya is a yakitori restaurant about a 7-minute walk from Meguro Station on the JR Yamanote Line, and it is also well liked for its stylish, grown-up hideaway atmosphere.
The interior is a Japanese modern space centered around wood. In addition to counter seating, it also has tables and Semi-private room seating.

One of the big draws here is that you can enjoy yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) in a classic old-school style. Skilled chefs carefully grill each skewer one by one and are known for serving them at just the right moment, when they taste best.
Along with the classic tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) and negima (chicken and scallion skewer), they offer a wide range that includes rare cuts as well, making it an irresistible lineup for yakitori fans.
Photograph:安倍太郎
Another nice point is the wide selection of drinks that go well with chicken dishes, so you can also use it like an izakaya (Japanese pub). In particular, the highballs are popular because you can choose from four kinds of whisky.
They also regularly stock three kinds of champagne, 12 kinds of wine, and 2 to 3 kinds each of barley shochu and Imo Shochu.
ぞえぞえぞえぞえ
Yakitori Sasaya in Meguro is a calm, well-regarded spot where you can take your time and enjoy classic yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). Without going for gimmicks, it makes a strong impression with its style of carefully grilling the standard favorites. The tebasaki (chicken wings) in particular are wonderfully fragrant, with juices that spread with every bite.

I enjoyed a course meal at Sasaya, a toriyaki (grilled chicken) restaurant in Meguro. In the calm atmosphere of the restaurant, each yakitori skewer was carefully grilled and tasted excellent. In particular, the plump and juicy yakitori and the finishing egg rice were superb, and I enjoyed the meal all the way through without ever getting tired of it. With yakitori that showed the owner's dedication and warm, comfortable service, it was a place that made me want to visit again.

Meguro Soregashi is a popular izakaya (Japanese gastropub) located just a short walk from the West Exit of Meguro Station on the JR Yamanote Line, known for its wide variety of creative dishes. They are known for a lineup of menu items with an extra touch, including snacks that go well with alcohol and fried dishes.
Among them, the restaurant’s signature items are the visually striking "shime saba (cured mackerel) and iwashi (sardine) thick roll," "honmaguro (bluefin tuna) tekka thick roll," and "nianago (simmered conger eel) thick roll." They are packed with fresh seafood and are said to be very satisfying.
For charcoal grilling, the "Yonezawa-gyu (Yonezawa beef) charcoal grill" and "seasonal vegetables" are also standard favorites. They come out juicy with a nice smoky aroma from the charcoal.
They also have a full lineup of branded Japanese sake from across Japan, which makes it even more appealing since you can enjoy it with a glass that suits your taste.
katsu mizu
You can spend your time here in a calm mood at this grown-up kind of place. They will split and serve the dishes for 2 people. The lineup was on the lighter side, from fried horse mackerel and agedashi tofu to tekka futomaki (thick sushi roll with tuna) and shuto udon, but since I have not been able to eat that much lately, it felt just right. The futomaki was packed tightly with tuna, and I was very Manzoku.

I visited with a reservation on Sunday night. The restaurant has counter seating only and was full, with a great balance of calm lighting and a lively atmosphere. We started with draft beer and ordered Sandaime Potato Salad, soft roe ponzu, hon-maguro (bluefin tuna) tekka futomaki, shime-saba (vinegared mackerel) and iwashi (sardine) futomaki, and menchi-katsu (Japanese minced meat cutlet). Every dish lived up to its signature status, and the care in each plate really came through.

They offer a wide range of dishes without sticking to one genre, choosing items based on whether they are tasty and pair well with alcohol. Another draw is the chance to try unusual seasonings and flavors.
The karasumi (dried mullet roe) bifun (rice vermicelli), served in a box, is also one of their signature dishes and is well known for its striking presentation and refined taste.
Photograph:グルメなこっちゃん
For special occasions or birthdays, they also offer a cake and message card service. It comes with coffee, and a nice touch is that you can add any message you like.
Some reviews say it made for a memorable party. Reservations are required by the day before, so be sure to check in advance.

I had a drinking party with former coworkers from my previous job for the first time in a while. Since it was a special chance, we picked this well-known restaurant. The entrance and even the way the automatic door opens are tricky in a nice way. I was also surprised that they let us choose our seats. I have nothing bad to say about the course meal, and the drink menu was incredible. My companion was really impressed.
Source:d70bde's review
The service was excellent, and the communication beforehand was also very kind, which made it a wonderful surprise party. The food, drinks, and cake were all fantastic. Even the fact that the entrance was hard to find turned into a great surprise. Thank you very much.

Somen Sakaba Hayashi Meguro Ten is an izakaya located about a 5-minute walk from JR Meguro Station, with a casual and bright interior that includes a long counter in the back as well as table seating.
It is a space where both solo diners and groups can relax and enjoy themselves. Another convenient point is that it stays open until early morning on some days.

It offers a new style where you can enjoy not only drinks but also oden (Japanese hot pot dish) and even To finish somen (thin wheat noodles). The menu features dishes made with seasonal ingredients and carefully selected produce.
The photo shows the “maguro (tuna) rare katsu.” The light rare fry is just right, making this a must-try dish.
Photograph:ゆる〜いネギ子
The “sansho-niku ra-somen” features a mildly spicy dipping broth with chili oil and plenty of meat. The numb heat and fresh lift of sansho (Japanese pepper) add depth to the flavor. You can also enjoy toppings like a soft-boiled egg, green onions, and sesame.
There is also a wide selection of drinks to go with it, including sours, shochu, and Japanese sake.
nomulog
A slightly unusual izakaya where somen (thin Japanese noodles) takes center stage. It’s about a 5-minute walk from Meguro Station, and the casual setting makes it easy to drop by. The à la carte dishes are also very high quality, so it really shines as a sake bar✨The maguro (tuna) rare katsu in particular was so tender and incredibly good!

The ocha-wari (tea split drink) is the signature menu item, letting you freely mix and match 10 kinds of alcohol and tea.
You can adjust the aroma, taste, and balance of the tea to suit your preference. Along with classics like sencha (green tea) and matcha (powdered green tea), you can also enjoy rare teas such as sparkling black tea and green Earl Grey paired with colorful alcohol.

It had not even been a month, but I wanted to try a different kind of tea split with shochu and a different Kara-age combo, so I came back again right away! lol Just as I expected, every combo tasted great, but my personal MVP this time was sunagimo (gizzard) ✖️ yuzu kosho (yuzu pepper)! I want to try them all (that is just my personality), so I will probably be back again very soon

Of course, beer goes well with Kara-age too, but the refreshing ocha-wari (tea mixed with shochu) balanced out the richness of the Kara-age and paired with it really well! The unusual ocha-wari and Kara-age keep things interesting, so you can enjoy them all the way to the end without getting tired of them. I went with about 4 people and thought I would love to try even more kinds! By the way, the kamo (duck) is a must-order!

They stock a wide range of seasonal fish that the owner personally selects every day at Toyosu Shijo (Toyosu Market), with plenty of choices including horse mackerel, Sea Bream, oysters, and kinmedai (golden eye snapper).
The "4-piece sashimi assortment" lets you enjoy that freshness as it is, and the melt-in-your-mouth slices are said to pair perfectly with Japanese sake.
ishikyu
I’m glad they offer lots of "small portion" menu items for solo diners, including sashimi assortment and sanma (Pacific saury) simmered with plum paste, and even grilled fish in half of a half portion (in other words, 1/4). The menu focuses more on fish than meat, with plenty of dishes to enjoy with Japanese sake and shochu.

Each dish was served with care, one at a time. The pace is more about slowly sipping your drinks and waiting patiently, but it never felt stressful, and the relaxed tempo suited the space well. Overall, everything we ate was good. In particular, the sanma (Pacific saury) simmered with pickled plum and the stewed beef tendon were a bit unusual, but very tasty. They also have a wide range of drinks, and the atmosphere is not too loud, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a drink.

The popular "goya chanpuru" is a classic Okinawan dish made by stir-frying goya, shima-dofu (Okinawan island tofu), and pork. Its simple savory taste is said to be addictively good.

The recommendation is koshu (aged awamori). It is awamori aged for more than three years, and is said to offer deep richness and a mellow taste in every cup.

From standard items like "momo" and "tsukune" and "negima" to rare cuts like "soriresu" and "harami" and "furisode," they offer more than 20 kinds of menu items.

The yakitori and carefully prepared à la carte dishes pair perfectly with wine, Japanese sake, and cocktails.
The photo shows “ran'o no shoyu-zuke (egg yolk marinated in soy sauce).” Some say that when paired with grated daikon radish, it offers a flavor similar to karasumi (dried mullet roe).

・Negima (chicken and scallion skewer)
The skin is crisp, while the inside has a nice springy bite, and the umami spreads as you chew. The scallion is sweet and juicy too. Both are nicely fragrant and delicious♡

I asked for a course focused entirely on yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). It had no sweets or finishing dishes, and the level of satisfaction with the yakitori was high. The grill chef was also very easy to talk to, which made for a really fun time. The hideaway location also gives you a little thrill. The hospitality felt pleasant from start to finish.

You can enjoy dishes made simply with Special ingredients.
The "Honjitsu no Osashimi assortment (today's sashimi assortment)," made with ingredients sourced from around Japan, is a plate where you can enjoy the best seasonal picks. The "uni (sea urchin)" is said to be a standard favorite served in a temaki style, wrapped in nori (seaweed) before eating.
They always stock more than 100 kinds of Japanese sake from all over Japan, along with a wide lineup of shochu and beer.
The knowledgeable and friendly owner gives careful advice, so even first-time Japanese sake drinkers can order with ease, which has earned the place a good reputation.

I found this place while out for a walk and decided to go in. I got in at just the right time. It was very popular and constantly full! The food was so good! The items marked with ◎ on the menu are basically the recommended ones! I also wanted to try the Kara-age, and since it seems to be a place known for Japanese sake, I wanted to order some Japanese sake too.

I was amazed by the incredible variety of Japanese sake. The person I went with also had nothing but praise for this restaurant. Not only the Japanese sake, but the fish was also very delicious, and even first time visitors can feel at ease because the staff provide such attentive service, so I highly recommend it^ ^

Homare is a Japanese izakaya located on the 1st floor of Meguro Station Side Building, right by the East Exit of Meguro Station on the JR Yamanote Line, and it also has Semi-private room and fully private room seating for a more private feel.
The comfortable Japanese modern atmosphere creates a calm space. Seasonal visuals are shown on the walls, so you can also enjoy the mood of that time of year.
You can enjoy kaiseki (traditional multi-course Japanese cuisine) made with fresh ingredients sourced from the market every morning. Each person's meal is served individually, so you can enjoy it at your own pace.
The "Appetizers" course starts with carefully prepared dishes, and the "Wa Kaiseki" course with All you can drink is said to build excitement from the very beginning.

Dassai, Kubota, and Kokuryu, among others, line up as Japanese sake included in the All you can drink plan. Local sake and seasonal labels rotate monthly, so it sounds like there is always something new to discover whenever you visit.
It is also a nice touch that they serve it in wine glasses that bring out the aroma.

Every dish was tasty and refined, and with 3 hours of All you can drink, we drank plenty of brand name Japanese sake and really enjoyed ourselves, and since it is also close to the station, I think it is perfect for large group gatherings!

The interior is very clean, and the Semi-private room style spaces divided by noren (traditional fabric dividers) create a calm atmosphere. Even large groups can relax and spend time comfortably, with a nice sense of privacy that makes it easy to enjoy the meal. We ordered a course menu and enjoyed Japanese dishes centered on sashimi and kakuni (braised pork belly). Every dish was consistently good, making this a perfect spot for a lively meal with a group.

They offer seasonal fish that changes throughout the year, carefully selected at Tsukiji Market.
The beautifully presented "sashimi assortment" is a standout dish made possible by the owner’s expert eye and close ties with the fish market. It is a popular menu item with nonstop orders.

They always stock about 100 kinds of Japanese sake, and it seems that as many as 30〜40 bottles are rotated each week.
Reviewers also said they had the chance to discover labels they had never known before and fully enjoy the appeal of Japanese sake.

The food is all delicious, and this is also a great place to enjoy Japanese sake. I do not stop by Meguro very often, but since the place has just a few counter and table seats, it is nice and calm! It does not feel too formal, but I recommend it for a meal with someone you want to have a proper conversation with.

The recommended menu is always fun. The squid ink paella that everyone loves is one dish you should definitely try. Even after you are full, they have a great range of snacks like grilled whole dried squid and eihire (ray fin). This might be an irresistible place for Japanese sake lovers!

The restaurant is said to be known for its lineup of dishes made with seasonal fish landed at Tsukiji.
Among them, the signature sashimi assortment is a popular item that almost every regular orders. It is great as is, and you can also enjoy it in different ways, such as wrapping it in nori (seaweed).

The Most Popular item, and one that has many repeat fans, is aonori dofu (tofu with green laver). The thick aosa seaweed sauce and the smooth tofu are said to be a perfect match.
It is said to go great both as a dish To finish and as a snack with drinks.

I didn’t have much time, so it was just a quick stop, but the otoshi (small appetizer) was a hotate (scallop) cream croquette. The coating was crisp, and the inside was nice and creamy, so it was really good. After that, I had the reliable sashimi assortment and aonori tofu. Since it was hot, I chose the chilled aonori tofu. The dashi broth and aonori made the tofu even tastier.

I visited on a weekday (Wednesday) evening. The ceiling was high inside, giving the place an open and comfortable feel. The 8-kind sashimi assortment was excellent. The sashimi cuts were thick and very satisfying. The namero (minced fish with miso and seasonings) wrapped in shiso and deep-fried had a texture I had never tried before, and it was so good I would order it again.

Ikeda Shoten is a hideaway-style charcoal grill izakaya right near Meguro Station on all lines, and its small basement interior has only 7 counter seats, so even solo diners can drop in with ease.
Reviews also say it is a warm, homey kind of place that makes you want to become a regular, with lively conversation among the regulars.
They serve reliably good dishes, including yakitori made with Shingen-dori (chicken) from Yamanashi Prefecture, fresh fish shipped directly from Mie Prefecture, and local dishes from Kagoshima.
The yakitori is skewered one by one in-house and grilled with just the right heat. Popular choices include the thigh and tsukune (chicken meatball).

The sashimi made with seasonal ingredients features an excellent selection of very fresh seafood, including white fish and silver skinned fish.
There are 5 to 6 kinds of local sake, as well as red and white wines from California and red wine from Italy. Paired with drinks, it makes for a luxurious time to savor and enjoy.

Each skewer, slowly grilled over charcoal, is fragrant and juicy, with perfect doneness. They served a variety of recommended items, and every one left an impression. In particular, the moist and tender "sasami (chicken tenderloin)," the soft-boiled "uzura (quail egg)," which was the best I’ve ever had, the fragrant "Cartilage," and the flavor-packed "tsukune (chicken meatball)" were outstanding.

A friend introduced me to this place, and every yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) that came out was great! It seems to have a lot of fans among serious food lovers. The yakitori is excellent, but the uzura no tamago kushi (quail egg skewer) really stands out. The yolk inside was rich and runny, and I ended up ordering another one.

Ura Abe is a yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) izakaya located about a 3-minute walk from Meguro Station on the JR Yamanote Line and the subway.
It operates under the changed name Yakitori Abe only on Sundays and Mondays, when many yakitori restaurants and other places to eat around Meguro Station are often closed.
The interior has a Japanese modern style, with an atmospheric single slab wood counter and table seating.
The kushiyaki (grilled skewers) are cooked over Kishu Binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal) with intense heat from close range, which locks in the flavor. They are seasoned with a blended salt, giving them a rich aroma.
The popular main option is the Omakase stop course, centered on skewers made with Date-dori (chicken from Fukushima Prefecture). It seems you can enjoy everything from soup to dessert.
Photograph:やーま87
The drink selection is also extensive, with Special Japanese sake from production regions across Japan, wine, Japanese whisky, and more.
They all pair very well with the food, and you can enjoy pairings to match your taste and mood.

On this day, I enjoyed an Omakase stop-order style meal with dakimi (inner thigh meat), hizashita (lower knee meat), shishito peppers, hearts, yagen Cartilage, chicken drumettes, eggplant, tsukune (chicken meatball), negima (chicken and scallion skewer), shokudo (esophagus), gizzard, chicken skin, seseri (neck meat), liver, and even chicken soup to finish. The cooking was spot on for each cut, and the moist, rich flavor of the dakimi and the toasty aroma of the liver were especially memorable.

The Heart was tender, springy, and delicious♪The nankotsu (cartilage) also had a nice crunch, with plenty of meat on it, and it was very tasty. I forgot to take a photo, but the ginnan (ginkgo nuts) at the end were also delicious♪
