Yakitori Tsukiya

Yakitori Tsukiya is a restaurant where you can enjoy yakitori prepared by a chef trained in Japanese cuisine, and it is a 5-minute walk from JR Yurakucho Station.

The interior is based on black tones, creating a calm atmosphere. The art painted on the ceiling is also said to be lovely.

The yakitori at this restaurant uses Date-dori (brand chicken from Date), known for its distinctive fruit-like umami. After being aged for a set period, it is carefully prepared and served.

The charcoal-grilled Date-dori is said to burst with tasty juices the moment you put it in your mouth.

The menu offers only three course meals. Along with yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), you can enjoy dishes made with seasonal vegetables.

Before the rice dish, you can also order extra yakitori including rare cuts of Date-dori (brand chicken) that are not served in the course.

Inside, the kitchen is surrounded by a large counter, so you can enjoy your meal while watching the grilling. The skewers are without a doubt delicious. Unusually for this kind of place, they also serve sashimi (raw fish), and I was pleasantly surprised that I could enjoy uni (sea urchin) and maguro (tuna) from Yamayuki at a yakitori restaurant. The oyako-don (chicken and egg Rice bowl) at the end is irresistible.

sayachang

It is an Omakase course of yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), and every single skewer is delicious! The charcoal grilling is just right, and the meat is plump and juicy. It is very tasty. Toward the end of the course, they let you request something you want to eat again or something from the menu available that day, and if you get greedy there, you are in for a lot. lol

The bonjiri (chicken tail) and Hatsumoto also were not too rich with fat, so I enjoyed them all the way through without getting tired of them. The tsukimi tsukune (chicken meatball with egg yolk) had a rich yolk, a light and fluffy texture, and felt satisfying. The ginnan (ginkgo nuts) were also fragrant and worked well as a palate cleanser. Overall, it was not too oily, and the light composition made good use of the ingredients' natural flavors, which left a good impression because even a filling meal did not feel heavy.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) is carefully grilled over Tosa binchotan (high grade charcoal from Kochi), and every skewer leaves the impression of flavor building gently with each bite. Starting with chicken broth wonton soup, then moving on to kashiwa (chicken), sunagimo (gizzard), renkon (lotus root), negima, bonjiri, seseri lemon, and tsukune (chicken meatball)... every item has an excellent balance and really shows the quality of the ingredients.

The atmosphere alone feels a class above. The view from the counter seats is great, and I was so happy eating freshly grilled yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) that were just too good. They are very particular about the chicken, and every skewer is delicious. The atmosphere is also very nice, and although at first it felt a little awkward being the only one there with so many staff around, the place later filled up completely. It is pretty amazing that so many people come even on a weekday.

A stylish and very refined yakitori restaurant. The savory aroma drifting over the counter as the skewers are grilled, and each carefully cooked skewer, really show the chef’s attention to detail. The negima (chicken and scallion skewer) and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) in particular had perfect cooking, nicely browned on the outside and tender inside. The tare sauce was not too strong either, and it brought out the natural flavor of the ingredients well. There is also a wide selection of drinks.

The Hinaijidori (Hinai chicken) gizzard has a pleasantly crisp texture, and the seasonal vegetable skewer features plump, large ginnan (ginkgo nuts). It is almost a problem how easily the wine goes down. And it would not be an exaggeration to say I came here for this: the Hinaijidori liver. Its melting texture and rich flavor are pure bliss. The guinea fowl thigh with kinoko (mushrooms) is another dish that brings out the taste of autumn.

The yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and wine were both delicious. They also had a wide variety of rare cuts, which made the meal fun. The atmosphere was nice, and even at the counter we could talk in a relaxed setting. I’ll be back.

We were seated on the second floor, but the freshly grilled piping hot dishes came out at a good pace, so we could enjoy the meal without any stress. The cooking was done just right to keep the ingredients' natural flavor, and we also enjoyed the drinks with the food.

The thigh meat and tsukune (chicken meatballs) were especially outstanding and naturally put a smile on my face. The salads and other small dishes are also carefully prepared, and they look beautiful too. The staff are attentive, and the timing of the drinks and food is perfect. This is a restaurant where you can feel Manzoku with the atmosphere, food, and service.

First up was bonjiri-kushi (chicken tail skewer). The moment I took a bite, the rich fat spread in my mouth, and the aroma of the crisply grilled skin was irresistible…! The salt seasoning was just right too, and this was the kind of dangerously good skewer I could keep eating forever. The tori-kawa-kushi (chicken skin skewer) was grilled nice and crisp, and with the extra fat rendered off, it felt light and easy to eat.

There were so many kinds of kushiyaki (grilled skewers) to choose from besides yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), including beef skewers, meat wrapped skewers, and seafood skewers, that it was hard to decide! I had three kinds of yakitori with tare sauce, and the rich, slightly sweet sauce was so good! I especially liked the bonjiri (chicken tail). The homemade Domestic motsu (offal) stewed in Shinshu miso was packed with chunky motsu and vegetables! It had a gentle flavor that slowly warmed the body and was perfect with drinks◎
