Sumibiyaki Lily Shibuya Ten

Sumibiyaki Lily Shibuya Ten is an izakaya where you can enjoy sushi made by veteran chefs and old-style genshi-yaki (traditional hearth grilling).

Genshi-yaki is a cooking method in which ingredients are skewered and grilled by leaning the skewers around an irori (traditional sunken hearth). There is also counter seating where you can watch the cooking right in front of you.

The hearth-grilled otoro iwashi (rich sardine) is said to be tender enough to eat from head to tail. Grilled over charcoal, the skin turns crisp while the flesh stays soft and flaky.

It is rich with fat and goes especially well with Japanese sake or a highball.

Another great feature is the wide variety of drinks. The Japanese sake menu lists the taste and aroma of each one, so it is easy to find something that suits your preference.

Even the All you can drink course includes more than 20 kinds of Japanese sake labels.

takkun1010

The robatayaki-style grilling over an open hearth is just so good! The ootoro iwashi (extra fatty sardine) in particular was incredibly rich with fat!! And this is something you should definitely order if you can!! It’s the saba no bozushi (pressed mackerel sushi), limited to just 15 servings a day! It was thick-cut and amazingly tasty bozushi! This is a must-order kind of deliciousness!!

Uyuu

Uyuu is a kappo-style izakaya where you can enjoy tasty creative Japanese cuisine in small portions along with drinks.

The interior has a stylish feel, highlighted by reclaimed wood and green mortar. In addition to a lively counter and spacious table seating, it also has Private room seating for a more private setting.

The specialty sumibi-aburi saba bo-zushi (charcoal-seared pressed mackerel sushi) is said to be lightly seared right in front of you. They carefully torch the skin over bincho-zumi (high-grade charcoal), giving it a toasty aroma that really whets the appetite.

Some days, the fish used for the bo-zushi is aji (horse mackerel) instead of mackerel.

Another nice point is the wide selection of drinks that pair well with the food. You can ask for recommendations or have them bring something on Omakase.

Kazenomori (Wind Forest), a Japanese sake from Nara, has a fruity sweetness that makes it easy to drink, and it pairs perfectly with Japanese cuisine.

小林0728

Located a little away from the bustle of Shibuya, this restaurant lets you enjoy Japanese food and Japanese sake in a calm, grown-up space. I visited at night, and I was able to fully enjoy the meal and drinks in its refined atmosphere. Every dish showed careful craftsmanship, and the otsukuri (sashimi assortment) in particular was fresh and really highlighted the quality of the ingredients.

うにくまる

I visited and ordered a la carte, and every dish from start to finish was delicious, so next time I’d like to try a course meal too. Everything was seasoned just the way I like it, and it was all really good. As for mozuku (Okinawan seaweed), it was the first time in my life I’d ever had mozuku this delicious. I was deeply impressed.

Kaki (oysters) and washoku (Japanese cuisine). Ikkoku

Kaki to Washoku. Ikkoku is a restaurant where you can enjoy seasonal oysters, Japanese cuisine, and Japanese sake.

The menu features not only standard raw oysters and fried oysters, but also a wide range of oyster dishes such as sukiyaki and takikomi gohan (seasoned rice cooked with ingredients).

They offer at least six kinds of kaki (oysters), depending on the season and what is available, and you can also compare different nama-gaki (fresh oysters).

From clean and light flavors to rich and creamy ones, you can take your time tasting the differences from each production region.

They also have a wide selection of Japanese sake that pairs well with oysters and the food. Among them, Japanese sake made especially for oysters, "Miyagi Yamawa For Oyster Junmai Ginjo" and "Niigata IMA ~Japanese sake for oysters~," are especially popular.

The "IMA" in the photo is known for being fresh and juicy, almost like a white wine.

It was packed with oysters, from raw oysters and grilled oysters to fried oysters and oyster takikomi gohan (rice cooked with ingredients). They also had Japanese sake that pairs well with oysters, so oyster lovers will leave very Manzoku.

I often drink Japanese sake, but discovering that there is Japanese sake made for oysters was something new to me. I asked for an Omakase style selection of Japanese sake like a pairing, and they matched it very well. Of course the oysters were great, but the oyster and ikura (salmon roe) Clay Pot rice was the best thing I had.

Motsu Kichi Shibuya Ten

Motsukichi Shibuya Ten is an izakaya where you can casually enjoy kappo (traditional Japanese course-style) dishes made with rare ingredients from Kyoto.

From the table seats, you can take in Shibuya's night view, while at the counter seats facing the open kitchen, you can enjoy drinks and food as you watch the chef's knife work.

Their specialty is motsu dishes, which have been popular since the restaurant first opened. The "Kyo-fu (Kyoto-style) motsu Hot Pot" is known for its mild, rich flavor based on the restaurant's original Saikyo miso (Kyoto-style white miso).

They also offer courses with All you can drink, featuring grilled motsu and motsu Hot Pot as the main dishes.

Because this restaurant is licensed to sell raw meat, one of its highlights is the wide range of meat sashimi you can enjoy, including “Wagyu Heart Aburi Sashimi” and “Low Temperature Cooked Wagyu Liver Sashimi.” Every meat sashimi is fresh and said to be great with a drink.

The photo shows the “3 Kinds Meat Sashimi Assortment.”

The name "kitokito" means "freshness and liveliness" in the Toyama dialect. True to its name, this popular restaurant serves seafood and brand beef chosen for their quality and freshness.

Not only is the food delicious, but they also put a lot of thought into the presentation so guests can enjoy it even more.

The restaurant's signature dish is the "Kiwami Kaisen Tamatebako." This menu item packs hon-maguro (bluefin tuna) toro, Hokkaido nama uni (fresh sea urchin), and ikura no shoyu-zuke (soy-marinated salmon roe) into a jubako (tiered box), and when you open the lid, the dish appears in a surprising style, making it a popular item that is sure to liven up any drinking occasion!

The drink lineup includes highballs, beer, shochu, Japanese sake, and more, along with photogenic menu items like the "Azato Kawaii Kisetsu no Fruits Sour (calculatedly cute seasonal fruit sour)."

They come in a wide range of flavors such as strawberry, white peach, and Shine Muscat, and you can also switch them to non-alcoholic versions.

I got the impression that this creative izakaya was packed with the appeal of ingredients shipped direct from the source, including fresh seafood from Toyama and Himi-gyu (Himi beef)! It was nice that they offered not only fish but also meat dishes, making it easy to suit a wide range of tastes.

The dish we had been looking forward to was the A5 Himi-gyu (Himi beef) yukhoe. It was irresistible from the very first bite. Even though it was well coated in sauce, the flavor of the meat still came through beautifully✨️It naturally pairs well with drinks too, so this one is a must order!

The "jikasei remon shio (house-made lemon salt)" served at the end goes perfectly with it! On top of that, the staff thoughtfully cut it into easy-to-eat pieces, which is a nice touch too◎.

The kushiyaki (grilled skewers) that many people order are said to be so tasty that you will want to recommend them to others too. The photo shows "negima (chicken and scallion skewer)" and "bonjiri (chicken tail skewer)."

"Bonjiri" is a rare cut from the base of the chicken tail. It is rich and fatty, and pairs well with beer.

Not only is the yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) excellent, but the standard izakaya menu items are also well regarded.

The “Kunsei Tamago no Potato Salad” is said to be a new take on potato salad, with the smoky flavor of the smoked egg lifting the taste of the whole dish.

Every skewer was delicious, and I especially loved the chicken thigh and the fukumimi-yaki (grilled chicken breast wrapped in skin)! I’d love to visit again.

The kushiyaki made with fresh ingredients is packed with flavor, and the juiciness of the meat stands out in particular. It also pairs perfectly with drinks, and another draw is the wide variety of beverages available.

The Teppan-yaki dishes and small plates are also plentiful, and you can enjoy impactful menu items like ninniku mashimashi ramen monja (monjayaki with extra garlic and ramen) and garlic rice. It was the perfect place to share dishes and have a lively time with friends.
