Yakitori Torifuji Gotanda Ten

This authentic sumibiyaki yakitori (charcoal grilled chicken skewers) restaurant is about a 5-minute walk from Gotanda Station, and carefully grills its skewers over binchotan (high-grade white charcoal) for a fragrant finish.

You can enjoy juicy, satisfying branded chicken paired with drinks. It is an easy place to use both as an izakaya (Japanese pub) and as a spot for a meal.

Yakitori is available to order from a wide range of parts. If you sit at the counter, you can enjoy watching the chef's grilling technique and the flames rise as the chicken fat drips onto the charcoal.

The rare cut "soriresu (oyster cut)" is carefully grilled, with a springy surface and a moist, juicy inside.

The photo shows the Kodawari Tamago no Oyako Rice bowl. This luxurious dish uses plenty of eggs from a contracted farm, with chicken bound together in a slightly sweet dashi broth.

Reviews say the eggs' rich, mellow sweetness fills your mouth, and they pair perfectly with the chicken.

ドラゴンズベース

In addition to draft beer, the drink menu offers plenty of fruit-forward options, including unshu mikan (Satsuma mandarin) sour. They also stock branded Japanese sake and shochu, creating a lineup that lets drinkers enjoy the world of yakitori more deeply based on their tastes.

Because each yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) is carefully cooked one by one over charcoal, it seems to take about 20〜35 minutes from ordering, so it’s best to order early! The yakitori was great of course, but they also had a wide variety of other a la carte dishes and closing dishes, and everything I tried was reliably delicious.

Sakaba Soregashi

Sakaba Soregashi is an izakaya located a 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station. Set in a renovated old Japanese house, it has a warm and homey atmosphere.

The interior keeps the charm of a traditional Japanese house, making it perfect for enjoying Japanese sake and small dishes. You can relax and enjoy conversation in a calm, grown-up setting.

This place is all about enjoying Japanese sake. The food is seasoned on the bold side to pair well with Japanese sake, so your drinks go down easily.

If you choose the “Soregashi Course,” you can casually enjoy popular menu items that go perfectly with drinks. As an option, you can also add 10 kinds of Japanese sake.

The "Tokusei Menchi Katsu (special minced meat cutlet)" has a crispy and juicy texture. With its rich seasoning, it is very popular as a great match for drinks. You can enjoy it as part of a course or A la carte.

Since it is packed tightly with meat, they recommend enjoying it simply with lemon.

suicagenki

We had a course with a tasting of 10 kinds of Japanese sake. The many dishes that pair well with the drinks were also really nice. The Japanese sake started with the restaurant’s original label. It’s from Fukushima. No wonder it was so good. The rest of the sake was also very tasty. Finishing all 10 kinds was pretty tough lol

Sakataya

Just a 2-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This is an izakaya where you can casually enjoy fresh, high-quality seafood dishes and Japanese food.

The retro interior has the feel of a good old-fashioned izakaya. It is known for dishes that show the chef’s skill and care in every plate, from meals made with fresh seafood to simple snacks.

The "sashimi assortment" comes with 6 kinds per person. They serve thick cut slices in a beautiful assortment. Everything is wild caught, and the freshness is outstanding.

Each fish tastes great in its own way, and the different textures make it fun to eat. They also seem happy to adjust it to each guest's preferences.

The "yakitori (grilled chicken skewers)" here is distinctive because it is not skewered. The whole cut of meat is grilled until fragrant, then finished with a sweet and savory soy sauce glaze that tastes like teriyaki.

It is said to be grilled to a juicy finish, with the heat of shichimi togarashi (Japanese seven spice) adding a nice kick that makes the drinks go down easy.

平尾日吉

They also offer a wide selection of Japanese sake and shochu, which pair perfectly with the delicious yakitori (grilled chicken skewers). I was able to spend a blissful time slowly savoring the yakitori with drinks. The staff were also polite, and the comfortable atmosphere made the time fly by.

こうきち1966

A famous izakaya (Japanese pub) standing quietly in Gotanda. In this neighborhood filled with many places that shine like stars, it keeps its traditional facade without wavering. Both the food and the drinks are reliably solid. Whatever you want to eat is always served at a quality that never lets you down. The cost performance is good too. Another place I’d want to visit even on my own.

Kininaru Yome Deluxe

Just a 2-minute walk from Gotanda Station, this is a small izakaya (Japanese pub) on the first basement floor of a building.

This unique spot offers only an All you can eat and drink menu. It also has a good selection of tasty drinks, and it is popular because you can fill up on simple home-style dishes.

All the food is left up to the restaurant as Omakase, and unless you say stop, an endless stream of side dishes keeps coming, making it exciting to see what dish will be served next.

The small interior has a homey feel, with guests seated close to one another. You can mix your own drinks, so you can also enjoy sours made just the way you like them.

The menu changes depending on what they get in that day and the season. Just like at home.

The photo shows an assortment of obanzai (Kyoto-style home cooking) from one day. It is said to be a full spread, with basil-flavored macaroni salad, tama-konnyaku (simmered small konjac balls), and dressed side dishes.

matszx

Right away, they brought out an antipasto of obanzai (Japanese home-style Kyoto side dishes) and an oden assortment. Honestly, it was quite a lot right from the start. At that point, all I could think was that I was going to be Manpuku. It looked beautiful too, and while I had a hard time deciding where to start, every dish was carefully made and very good. The oden was also full of broth and had a gentle, tasty flavor.

MATT

I will let them know about any allergies On-the-Day at the restaurant. On this day, the meal started with macaroni salad, followed by chili con carne, an obanzai (Kyoto-style home cooking) assortment, simmered sardines, 3 seafood dishes, and mozuku (Okinawan seaweed) soup, with Hamburger Steak curry to finish. Since there is a 2-hour time limit, the dishes are served on a set schedule.

Taishu Sakaba PING

A 2-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This is a casual izakaya (Japanese pub) where you can enjoy tasty low-priced snacks and drinks.

The menu centers on motsuyaki (grilled offal skewers), and also includes stylish stew and liver paste. It is an easy place to use whether you want to settle in for drinks or just stop by solo for a quick bite.

The motsuyaki (grilled offal skewers) is made with fresh offal delivered direct from the market, carefully skewered and grilled over binchotan (high-grade Japanese charcoal) until plump and fragrant.

The liver has a melt-in-your-mouth texture with no off notes at all. The teppo (rectum) releases sweet fat the more you chew, making your drink go down even easier.

To finish, the popular veggie potage ramen comes loaded with plenty of vegetables and a big piece of roast pork, making it very filling. People like the sweetness of the vegetables and the rich tonkotsu shoyu (pork-bone soy sauce) flavor.

Even the half size has surprising volume, so it is also a good pick for sharing with everyone.

dirk.410

Every skewer and snack is made with real care, and the staff strike just the right balance. I even ended up chatting with the guy next to me, like, “What did you order?” and before I knew it, it had turned into such a warm, fun night。。If I’m in Gotanda (Gotanda) again, I feel like I’ll be drawn right back in for another visit✨️✨️

Sakusaku

A 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This is Saku Saku, an izakaya (Japanese pub) known for its charcoal-grilled fish.

Surrounded by warm wood tones, the interior has a spacious and relaxed feel. With warm hospitality, this down-to-earth spot is the kind of place where you can enjoy a quick drink while snacking on sakana (small dishes to go with drinks).

They offer a wide range of classic izakaya dishes, including sashimi and yakitori. Of course, they also have a great selection of Japanese sake.

The "katsuo no tataki (seared bonito, Tosa style)" is a dish of fresh bonito topped with plenty of yakumi (condiments) such as onion and myoga (Japanese ginger). Garlic chips add a nice accent, too.

Fish grilled over sumibi (charcoal fire) comes out flaky, juicy, and cooked just right. The key is the extra touch, as seen in dishes like saikyo-yaki (Kyoto-style miso-marinated grill) and teriyaki.

The "saba (mackerel) shichimi-yaki" in the photo is a popular dish, with the gentle aroma of shichimi (seven-spice blend) and the springy texture of the mackerel. The house-made soy sauce tare (sauce) is said to bring the flavor together.

ざっしょく

The entrance is understated, but the moment you step inside, you are wrapped in warm lighting and a pleasant buzz. It feels relaxed and easygoing, yet each dish brings one surprise after another. First comes the shock of how fresh the seasonal fish is, and then a fragrant grilled plate that is enough to make your stomach growl from the aroma alone. On top of that, the balance of vegetable and meat dishes is spot on, and every one of them is dangerously good with drinks!

けびん。

The plump toro-karei (rich fatty flounder) is so tasty! The sweet flavor of the miso in the saikyo-yaki (Kyoto-style miso grill) goes perfectly with the rice! It’s also great with grated daikon radish topped with soy sauce! Unbelievable. I’m definitely going to keep coming back!

Motsuyaki Gotanda Fujiya

This izakaya is a 5-minute walk from the west exit of Gotanda Station. You can enjoy fresh motsu (offal) with drinks.

Motsu, the organ meat of beef and pork, is appealing because each cut has a different taste. You can enjoy the goodness of motsu in Hot Pot, grilled skewers, sashimi, and more.

The limited-quantity popular menu item "reba-nira" features liver marinated with nira (garlic chives) and sauce, then grilled right at your table. A staff member cooks it in front of you.

The liver is fresh, with a plump and springy texture. The sweet and salty sauce mixes with the egg yolk topping for a blissful taste.

In addition to specialty dishes like the famous "Rebanira" and meat dishes such as "shio motsu nikomi (salt-seasoned offal stew)," the restaurant also offers a full lineup of skewers that you can order in your preferred style, from A la carte to Omakase.

The photo shows "shiro (pork intestine)", "kashira (pork cheek)", "tanmoto (base of the tongue)", and "teppo (part of the rectum)".

They also serve items that are perfect to finish off a night of drinking, such as "goma no ha no onigiri (rice ball wrapped in sesame leaf)" and "motsuyaki-ya no ramen (ramen from a yakiton shop)".

Every grilled skewer is cooked with care, juicy and fragrant, with the liver and tsukune (chicken meatball skewer) standing out in particular. The prices are reasonable, and the level of Manzoku is very high for the quality. They also pair perfectly with alcohol, and this reliable well known spot is the kind of place where you plan to have just one drink and end up staying much longer.

I got in with a reservation, but when I arrived, the place was already almost full. It seems to be a very popular restaurant. I started by ordering a beer, then got some skewers, a tomyo (pea shoot) salad, and potato salad. I also ordered something called rebanira, which came in a small pot with a soup-like broth inside, heated on a portable gas stove, where the liver and nira (garlic chives) were simmered and then eaten with egg yolk for seasoning. Maybe because the liver was so fresh, it had no off notes at all and was very tasty.

Chacoal Grill Santake Shoten

A 2-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This is a place where you can enjoy a wide variety of Japanese sake and freshly grilled sumibi kushiyaki (charcoal-grilled skewers), and it works well as an izakaya.

There are counter and table seats, and it is said to be easy to drop in whether you are alone or with a group.

They have a wide selection of distinctive drinks, including Japanese sake and craft beer. The “Tasting Set,” which lets you compare several kinds of Japanese sake, is also very popular.

You can also enjoy pairing carefully charcoal grilled skewers by skilled chefs with Japanese sake.

The “Beef Outside skirt Skewer with Wasabi Soy Sauce” is made by slowly grilling beef diaphragm over charcoal. It is a healthy lean cut, yet it is said to have a tender and juicy texture.

The beef is topped with wasabi and a secret soy-based sauce, and the pairing is excellent.

うぃずぐるめ

Every yakitori (grilled chicken skewer) made with fresh ingredients was excellent, and it paired perfectly with Japanese sake. I especially recommend the restaurant's signature beef Outside skirt skewer.

さとうのごはん310

What stands out most is the extensive selection of Japanese sake. They always have more than 30 kinds of Japanese sake available, and it seems they also carry many seasonal limited labels. Another appealing point was that you can talk with the staff and find a cup that suits your taste, such as with the "Otanoshimi tasting comparison."

SAKE story

A 4-minute walk from the west exit of Gotanda Station. This is an izakaya where you can enjoy good Japanese sake and appetizers.

The Japanese sake selection consists only of famous labels Specially chosen by the owner himself. The easy-to-understand chart showing the characteristics of each label is Homemade by the owner. This is a place that both Japanese sake enthusiasts and beginners can visit with ease.

Appetizers arranged in a jubako (tiered lacquer box). The look is understated, but each item shows careful, detailed work.

The food and Japanese sake bring out the best in each other, so it is easy to end up drinking a little too much. The chart inside the restaurant is also popular for making it easy to choose a sake that suits your taste.

The “sukiyaki korokke (sukiyaki croquette)” is a very popular item with a sweet and savory soy sauce seasoning. Made with Matsuzaka beef, each crisp bite is said to release rich beef flavor and egg yolk sauce from inside.

You can enjoy it in the “otoshi set” and “kaiseki course.”

pgy

They have a wide selection of drinks, and the food was very good as well. The food seems to be served mainly as courses, and it felt like you could also order A la carte in addition to the course. The menu notes which Japanese sake pairs well with each dish, so you can enjoy pairings too.

だっふるん

They have a wide variety of relatively rare Japanese sake. The storefront has a calm feel, and the clientele is steady, so it is not noisy and has a grown-up atmosphere where people can relax. If you choose the Omakase course, it is nice that you can also enjoy more of the restaurant's signature dishes.

The photo shows piping hot fried potatoes with nori (seaweed) and shiokara (salted seafood), and you can get free refills with every course.

Every course is very filling, and you can really feel the restaurant's hospitality in wanting everyone to leave satisfied.

oyster market Kakiiroha

A 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station. This izakaya (Japanese pub) & oyster bar has an unpretentious atmosphere, like a beach house by the shore.

In the bright and lively interior, you can enjoy seafood shipped directly from production regions across Japan, from bold steamed oysters to delicately flavored fresh oysters.

For the "mushi-gaki (steamed oysters)," the staff boldly cook them right in front of you on the Teppan-yaki grill. You can enjoy the oysters steaming up with a live-show feel.

The plump, glossy oysters fresh off the steam are said to fill your mouth with creamy umami when you bite into them.

The "Nama-gaki (fresh oysters), mada-gaki (Pacific oysters), 3-shu Tabe-kurabe Set" is a delicate set that lets you compare oysters from different production regions.

From rich and creamy to light and juicy, it lets you enjoy the deep range of flavors oysters have to offer.

Maboroshi no Wagyu (legendary Wagyu) to Misaki-ko (Misaki Port) Chokusou Sengyo (fresh fish shipped direct) Morgen Gotanda Ekimae Ten

This izakaya restaurant lets you casually enjoy rare ingredients such as Ozaki-gyu (Ozaki beef), Sanemon-buta (Sanemon pork), and fresh fish delivered directly from Misaki Port.

Good ingredients go hand in hand with fine drinks. A wide range of alcoholic beverages, including craft beer and Japanese sake, is another draw. It is located a 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station.

The "PLATINUM Plan" is a great value plan where you can enjoy small portions of fresh sashimi, Domestic oysters, and rare cuts of meat. It also comes with All you can drink.

The dishes are beautifully arranged with careful presentation, and the cooking is said to be impressive in the way it brings out the best in the ingredients.

The "Ozaki gyu (Ozaki beef) meat sushi" is a popular menu item made with mildly tangy vinegared rice topped with thin slices of Ozaki gyu.

People say the fat of Ozaki gyu melts in your mouth and quickly disappears. It also gets praise for its light, clean finish.

The restaurant has a very calm atmosphere, making it perfect for dinner. The especially recommended Gold Plan lets you enjoy fresh seafood from Misaki-ko (Misaki Port), and I also enjoyed the crisp texture of the salad and the natural flavors of the ingredients in the Appetizers. Everything is carefully prepared and wonderful.

Unagi (eel) Yakitori Gotanda Ufuku

Just a 1-minute walk from Gotanda Station, this is an unagi (eel) skewer izakaya where you can casually enjoy grilled eel skewers, yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), and drinks.

The restaurant retains the charm of an old kominka (traditional Japanese house), creating a friendly and down-to-earth atmosphere. It is a place where you can enjoy unagi, which often has a luxury image, more casually and at easy-on-the-wallet prices.

The standard grilled skewer, "tanzaku (grilled strips of eel)", is made by grilling steamed unagi (eel) with a soy sauce based tare sauce. The skin turns crisp, while the flesh stays plump and juicy.

They also offer a wide range of other grilled skewers, including "shiro-tanzaku," which is served without tare sauce, and "kurikara," made by grilling only the belly portion.

The "Tare-yaki Kunsei Unagi to Ajitama Potesara" is popular for its unexpected combination of unagi (eel) and potato salad.

Fluffy potatoes dressed with mayonnaise, crisp onions, fragrant unagi, and a sweet savory soy sauce tare. They all come together for a surprisingly great taste.

sakuradareset

Of course they have the classic unaju (eel over rice in a lacquered box) and kabayaki (grilled eel glazed with sauce), plus hitsumabushi (eel on rice eaten in several styles), shirayaki (plain grilled eel), and even unagi no kimoyaki (grilled eel liver), making it feel like an "eel theme park"(lol). Every dish is carefully grilled, with crisp skin and juicy, tender flesh inside. The special sauce is not too sweet and really brings out the eel's natural flavor.

There are a three-item assortment and a five-item assortment, so you can choose depending on your mood.

Kushiage Oohira Gotanda

Kushiage Ohira Gotanda is a kushiage (deep-fried skewers) specialty restaurant where you can enjoy them freshly fried, just a 3-minute walk from Gotanda Station.

The long, narrow interior has a calm, grown-up feel. With a wide selection of wine and other drinks that pair well with kushiage, it is also a great place to use like an izakaya (Japanese pub).

The kushiage (deep-fried skewers) menu is Omakase only. After asking about any ingredients you do not like or any allergies, the chef fries the day's recommended skewers.

The ingredients include meat, seafood, and seasonal vegetables. They keep bringing out different kinds of kushiage until you tell them to stop.

The coating on the kushiage (deep fried skewers) is light and crisp. It locks in and brings out the good flavor of the ingredients.

If Omakase is not your thing, the "Okimari Course" is a good choice. The number of kushiage is fixed, so you do not have to worry about when to ask them to stop. It also makes it easy to keep track of your budget.

なるログ(なる)

The interior feels refined and calm. When you order Japanese sake, you can choose your ochoko (small sake cup), which is fun! This restaurant serves each skewer with care, one by one, and places it in front of you fresh from the fryer. They also give a proper explanation of each ingredient.

ふーみん1623

One of the best things about this place is its style of serving Omakase, with two skewers at a time, so you can enjoy them little by little while they are still freshly fried. They serve a well balanced mix of seafood, meat, and vegetables, so I enjoyed the meal all the way to the end without getting bored.

Sushi Izakaya Mangetsu Gotanda Ten

This restaurant is a 3-minute walk from the west exit of Gotanda Station, where you can casually enjoy sushi and izakaya menu items.

They offer a wide selection of alcoholic drinks, including beer, sour cocktails, and highballs. Its casual and easy-to-drop-by atmosphere is part of the appeal.

You can enjoy a wide variety of dishes just the way you like, including fried foods, salads, and hors d'oeuvres.

If you're visiting with a large group, the set "course" with food and All you can drink is recommended.

Kyushu Meibutsu Tome Teba Gotanda Ten

This is a casual izakaya (Japanese pub) where you can enjoy Tebasaki (chicken wings) Kara-age and gourmet dishes from the Kyushu region.

The spacious interior includes zashiki (tatami seating) and Private rooms, so you can choose the setup based on your group size and the occasion. It is a 3-minute walk from the east exit of Gotanda Station.

"Tome Teba" is a popular menu item made by deep-frying chicken wings and seasoning them with the restaurant's original flavoring. The way to enjoy them is to bite right into them while they’re freshly fried and piping hot.

There are three kinds: the simple "Meibutsu Tome Teba (Salt)," the sweet and savory soy sauce-based "Meibutsu Ama Teba," and the spicy "Meibutsu Kara Teba."

The "Hakata motsu-nabe (Hakata offal Hot Pot)" is a popular Hot Pot made with Special Domestic beef offal. You enjoy it as it cooks right at the table.

One of the pleasures is the springy texture of the motsu-nabe and how the flavor changes as it simmers. To finish, they add champon noodles and enjoy every last drop of the soup.

show-hey96

As expected of Japan’s best tebazaki (chicken wings)!! The moment I bit into one, the flavor burst out and it was Surprising!! Wow, so good!! Even with the second one, wow, so good!! I was just as impressed. The menu items other than the tebazaki were also more than just good... anyway, the food is just way too appealing.

The standard choice, Tome Teba no Shio, is amazingly good, but I found out for the first time that they also have a spicy version of Tome Teba and tried it, and it was insanely spicy. Another thing the staff recommended was Henshin Ebi, basically a version of fried shrimp without the coating, and it was incredibly tasty‼️ As expected, one of the best things about this place is how addictive it is to eat while saying how piping hot it is, hot enough to burn your mouth.

The photo shows the good-value lunch menu item, the "osashimi assortment set meal." It comes with an assortment of fresh sashimi, a small side dish, and fried food. It even includes dessert.

Kuimonoya Wan Gotanda Higashiguchi Ten

Kuinomoya Wan Gotanda Higashiguchi Ten is a 1-minute walk from Gotanda Station. It stands out for its calm atmosphere inspired by a traditional kominka (old Japanese house).

The interior reuses items that were actually used in old homes, and the beer glasses are made of Mashikoyaki (Mashiko ware), which has the warm feel of clay. This is a place where you can experience the good old style of the Japanese dining table.

For the sashimi assortment, you can choose either a three-item assortment or a five-item assortment, both served with beautiful presentation.

The menu is extensive, ranging from meat dishes to fish dishes. You can enjoy healthy Japanese creative cuisine.

The popular “Kodawari Meibutsu!! Dekkai daikon radish Oden” is a dish that lives up to its name, with a huge daikon radish that really stands out. The daikon radish soaked with dashi pairs well with the topping of tororo kombu kelp (shaved kombu kelp).

It also comes with egg and fish cakes, so it is quite filling and best shared.

Mrs.焼き鳥

Near the station, we stopped by an izakaya (Japanese pub) on a whim and did not expect much, but the quality of the food was excellent! Everything we ordered was delicious, and each dish was very large. We went with 3 people, and every plate was enough on its own. They also had a wide selection of drinks, and the staff service and speed of bringing out the food were both very good.

There were two of us, but we still got a proper Private room and could relax while drinking. The draft beer was also good, served in a ceramic mug. That said, the mug does not hold much, so it might feel pricey if you do not choose All you can drink. Also, unlike the common issue with All you can drink where no one comes even when you call, the staff came right away whenever we called.

Doma Doma Gotanda Higashiguchi Ten

A 1-minute walk from the East Exit of Gotanda Station. This is an izakaya where you can enjoy stylish, international cuisine.

The Japanese modern interior includes Private room seating and has a stylish, calm atmosphere. With cute cocktails packed with fruit juice and a full lineup of sweets, this is also a place where guests can relax in comfort.

The menu is incredibly varied, with meat dishes, fish dishes, takoyaki (octopus balls), pizza, shumai (steamed dumplings), and more. You can also enjoy a wide range of flavors, including Korean style, Chinese style, and ethnic style seasonings.

"Doma Doma Jiman no Kara-age" is a popular menu item. You can also add tartar sauce as an option.

The photo is said to show “Nan no Margherita.” It’s a surprising cross-cultural collaboration dish.

They also offer highly original dishes such as Japanese-style noodles carbonara and Japanese-style carpaccio. It’s fun to get excited wondering what they taste like.

チョコレート大魔王つーしゃん

You can enjoy a wide range of food and drinks in an interior with warm Japanese touches. It also has Private rooms, so it works well for many occasions. This is a convenient spot when you want to enjoy a casual drink in Gotanda.

I ordered chewy cheese mochi and shake-shake fries with savory salt flavor. For drinks, I ordered sweet options: a sour with plenty of peach pulp and a cassis orange. It’s a chain restaurant, but the food is simply good.
