If you're going to eat unagi in Yokohama, many reviewers recommend Yokohama Nodaiwa.
When it's in-season, they offer wild unagi, but the plump meat of the farmed unagi is also always delicious.

The restaurant looks like a traditional ryotei. Ending your Yokohama date at a place like this would definitely be memorable.
But of course, enjoying unagi by yourself is just as nice.

Despite ordering the small size, the portion of meat was astonishing. The rice may be small, but the meat certainly isn't. For the two-meat rice bowl, you can choose any two from about ten different types of meat. I chose char siu and roasted pork with crispy skin. The char siu is the classic red Chinese-style, while the roasted pork lives up to its name with a deliciously crispy skin.

踊る埴輪
The dish is seasoned with a soy sauce-based sauce, but it features bold use of strong, aromatic spices like star anise. (Omitted) Personally, I love these kinds of distinctive flavors, so I found it absolutely delicious.

While enjoying Shumai in a classic Yokohama bento box is nice enough, savoring freshly steamed shumai served in a bamboo steamer at a proper restaurant is a special experience.
At Kiyoken Chuka Shokudo, you can enjoy not only their signature Shumai but also a variety of set meals.

This set features seafood noodles paired with a half portion of fried rice.
Kiyoken is best known for its shumai dumplings, but it's also a great place to enjoy a variety of noodle dishes and more at reasonable prices.
TINTIN@呑んだ暮れ
Sanma-men: A local specialty of Yokohama, written as "生馬麺" in kanji. This noodle dish features stir-fried bean sprouts—cooked just enough to retain their crispness—topped with a savory sauce thickened with potato starch. While often called ramen, it has more in common with traditional Chinese-style noodle dishes.

The shumai here are truly delicious—I always order them whenever I visit. Each one is perfectly bite-sized and easy to eat. The gyoza also strike a wonderful balance between a crisp exterior and a chewy texture.

Koran is a welcoming and casual restaurant known for its delicious Chinese cuisine. Many loyal customers have been coming here since it first opened, a testament to its enduring popularity.
The food rivals the best in Chinatown, and it is especially praised for offering great flavors at very reasonable prices.

The perfect balance of spiciness and richness makes the tantanmen soup irresistible—some reviewers say they just can't stop sipping it.
The daily lunch specials are also generous in portion and leave diners thoroughly satisfied.
ケン太ウロス
I'd recommend the Tianjin-style ramen and seafood yakisoba for their excellent flavors. The menu also features a wide selection of authentic à la carte dishes. Both the shrimp with mayonnaise and the spicy shrimp are delicious and reasonably priced, making it perfect for sharing a variety of dishes with a group.

While you can enjoy spicy tantanmen noodles all across Japan, many reviewers agree that the ramen at Ganso New Tantanmen Honpo Higashi-Kanagawa is in a class of its own, best described as "New Tantanmen."
The soup has an addictive flavor that will have you craving another bowl before long.

Stir-fried meat and vegetables, gyoza, and fried rice are also very popular.
Some reviewers have been visiting Ganso New Tantanmen Honpo, including its other branches, for over 30 years.
トントンマン
The soup for the tantanmen features a base of eggs, ground pork, garlic, and chili peppers. A large pot is first used to prepare a standard spicy broth, to which additional chili peppers are gradually added to create medium and extra spicy variations. The level of spiciness is easy to recognize at a glance by the density of chili peppers on the surface.
