A high-end sushi restaurant in Sapporo, Sushi no Kura offers an exclusive experience with only six counter seats in a stylish setting. I made my reservation a month in advance, as this restaurant is known as one of the hardest places to book in Sapporo. I felt truly fortunate to secure a reservation!

HIRO’s
I used to frequent high-end sushi restaurants, but Sushi no Kura truly brings out the natural flavors of each ingredient. Unlike places that simply use expensive ingredients, this restaurant stands apart. One standout dish was the soft roe delicately seasoned with white soy sauce—a true highlight.

Step through the white noren curtain adorned with a family crest and enter a serene space featuring a light wood counter. The refined atmosphere is just right for an upscale Japanese restaurant.

The nigiri here is truly exceptional. For the first time, I could really appreciate the difference in the rice used at a high-end sushi restaurant. Each piece holds its shape until you take a bite, then gently falls apart in your mouth, allowing you to savor every individual grain. The freshness and quality of the toppings are outstanding, and the meticulous preparation brings out the best flavors in every bite.

The dinner course features an omakase selection that combines à la carte dishes with nigiri sushi. On one occasion, the nigiri included medium fatty tuna (chutoro), kisu (whiting), kinki (rockfish), lean tuna, and more.
The selection primarily showcases ingredients sourced from Hokkaido.
Everything was delicious, but the simmered octopus from Mashike and the sea urchin rice from Bikuni, Shakotan Peninsula, were truly outstanding. As it is quite upscale, it's not a place I can visit often, but I look forward to returning for a special occasion.

At Sushi Tokoro Yoshina, dishes are served à la carte rather than as a set course, allowing you to order both nigiri and side dishes according to your preferences.
On one occasion, the nigiri selection featured toppings such as uni (sea urchin), kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), and saba (mackerel).

The photo features one of their a la carte dishes—a luxurious combination of horsehair crab mixed with sea urchin. Other offerings included simmered tender octopus and flounder marinated with kombu kelp.
The restaurant is also known for its extensive selection of Japanese sake.

The restaurant is clean and the owner and staff are welcoming. The sashimi, simmered octopus, monkfish liver, and grilled cod milt were all delicious. Sushi selections included lean tuna, sea urchin, surf clam, horse mackerel, kohada, and more. There is also a wide variety of sake and other alcoholic beverages available. I look forward to visiting again.
