The expertly grilled beef, prepared by professional chefs, was so tender it melted in my mouth. The vegetables, thoroughly infused with the rich sukiyaki sauce, had just the right touch of sweetness and paired perfectly with the meat. To finish, the staff prepared a simple yet delicious simmered egg dish using fresh eggs.

I finally had the chance to visit the long-established Imahan Honten, a place I had always wanted to try. My friend reserved a private room for us. To reach our room, we walked through a beautiful garden to a separate annex. After entering through the main door, we removed our shoes before stepping inside. The private room was very peaceful and relaxing. It was also exceptionally quiet, perhaps because there were no other guests nearby.

Special Sukiyaki Course
This is truly one of the finest meats I have ever tasted—exceptionally tender, perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and firmness. It reminded me that sukiyaki is best enjoyed when the beef is served in rolled slices. The flavor and especially the texture are on a different level. New ingredients are gradually added, such as grilled tofu for the second plate and shirataki noodles for the third, enhancing the experience with each course. Sukiyaki offers a unique appeal that sets it apart from yakiniku.

A sign at the entrance indicated that the restaurant was fully booked—a testament to its popularity. We were escorted to a private room in the back, which we had reserved in advance. While the main dining area was bustling with guests, once the sliding doors were closed by the attentive staff, our tatami room became enveloped in quiet. This makes it an excellent choice for business meetings or special occasions. The sunken kotatsu seating also ensures comfort for your legs.
