2020年以降はコロナ禍の影響でご無沙汰していましたが、やっと久しぶりに訪れることができたのが茨城県の笠間市です。笠間焼またはその他の工芸品を見るのが楽しいし(工芸家も集まる)、なんと言っても日本三大稲荷神社の一つでもある笠間稲荷神社への参拝で習慣化していたんです。
そしてグルメにとって忘れてはならないのが、栗の代表的産地であることです。なにせ栗の栽培面積が日本一位(栽培経営体数も)なのです。もちろん、収穫量も茨城県が国内1位です。
てな訳で今回も栗にあやかりました。
水戸に泊まって笠間に足を延ばすパターンも多かったのですが、電車で日帰りしたこともあります。その時に笠間駅のロータリーの一角にあるお店に寄ったのですが、それが「グリュイエール」さんです。スイーツが美味しかった記憶があって、笠間稲荷神社に行った際には、また立ち寄りたいと思っていた洋菓子店です。
今回(10月中旬の平日)は通常通り車での訪問です。笠間稲荷神社に参拝した後、ランチと洋菓子を食べに行くつもりで伺いました。駐車場はすぐ近くにあります。
13時を過ぎて入店。大きな石が埋め込まれた壁の横を通ると入口があります。イタリア的な雰囲気も感じます。ショーケースは写真のように和も感じられるデザインです。笠間らしいような。
早速喫茶エリアに入ろうとするとロープで入口が閉ざされていました。その先には人のいない喫茶エリアが見えます。横の洋菓子販売の所で聞いてみると、その日は喫茶を開けていないとのことでした。これで、メニューまで決めていたランチは断念。せめてケーキを買って喫茶エリアで食べれないかと思い、確認しましたがダメとのこと。
栗の産地で栗を食べないで帰るのは惜しかったので、「栗いっぱいタルト」(税込702円)と「モンブラン」(税込864円)を買いました。
買ったものの車で食べるのもなあなんて思い、走っているうちにサービスエリアで食べることを思いつきました。友部サービスエリアです。
まずはフードコートでランチをとってから外に出てフリーのテーブルに向かいました。
秋の爽やかな日で、風に当たりながら栗のスイーツをいただくのも悪くはないと思った次第です。元々がテラス好きですし。
自分は「栗いっぱいタルトをメインにいただきました。
本来なら栗の地味な色に染まるのですが、黄色と茶の栗色とクリームの白色の上に真っ赤な紅葉が真上に添えられる、和的な美しいビジュアルです。食べれば更に喜びは深まります。素直な栗の甘さと甘く煮込まれた味付けの栗の美味しさに生クリームとタルトの甘みが加わります。つまり、異なる4つの甘さを堪能できる訳です。そして、当然ながら幾つもの食感が口の中で広がります。
栗の最大産地であることに恥じない工夫をしっかりとされています。
一方、モンブランは栗の味の深さをしっかりと感じられます。やっぱり、栗のスイーツならモンブランを食べたくなりますね。そして、やっぱり美味しいです。
首都圏では数々のモンブランを目にする訳ですが(それも美味しい)、栗の産地で手がけるモンブランもいいものです。
まるで栗の林に囲まれて食べているような気がしてくるのです。
前回は秋ではなかったのですが、秋以外でも(要は栗に限らず)、美味しいスイーツを楽しめるお店と思います。
