出雲街道にある「道の駅しんぐう」にて休憩。
御菓子司櫻屋のホームページによると、「江戸時代末期の嘉永三年（１８５０年）に、初代嘉七が、旧姫路街道、旧鳥取・因幡街道と、山崎街道が交差する現在の地に、菓舗としてのれんをかかげて以来、６代を重ね、現在に及んでおります。」とのこと。明治神宮にも献上されているとか。
鮎の姿をした最中なわけだが、餡は、上品だけれども少し甘さがきつい感じのこし餡。
実は、この「揖保の鮎」ではなくて、「うす口醤油饅頭」のほうが、甘さと塩加減がいい塩梅で美味しい。播州龍野の名産品である「うす口醤油」が使われているとか。
見た目は、鮎のほうが豪華なんだけれども、味は饅頭かな^^;
