After drinking and eating yakitori in Kurume, I wanted Gyoza / Dumpling. I learned this for the first time when I came to Kurume. Kurume is a Gyoza / Dumpling town. I didn't know that. The restaurant was located in a corner of Gourmet Town at Nishitetsu Kurume Station. The restaurant has no doors, and the open atmosphere makes it easy to enter. I visited around 7pm on a holiday. There were four customers there. I sat down at an available seat and looked at the menu. There are fried Gyoza / Dumpling and boiled Gyoza / Dumpling. Both have several unique Gyoza / Dumpling. As I was looking at the menu, I found a menu that was quite good. I thought this was the only one I could have, so I ordered the "Snack Set 1300 yen tax included". This is a set that comes with two types of drinks and one or two items to choose from Gyoza / Dumpling or fried rice. It's rare to have two types of drinks. It's too good for a Gyoza / Dumpling. You can choose from fried, water, or soup gyoza. This time, I chose cheese fried Gyoza / Dumpling and celery boiled Gyoza / Dumpling. Drinks are available in draft beer and highball. First, we got not only draft beer but also Chinese-style chilled tofu. What a great deal! While we were drinking and snacking, the Gyoza / Dumpling arrived. The celery boiled Gyoza / Dumpling was really green. The menu said, "The skin is kneaded with spinach...". The green of the spinach. Gyoza / Dumpling was plump and round. It felt like an authentic shape. First, I took a bite of the cheese fried Gyoza / Dumpling. There was pork and cheese inside the thick, chewy skin. The cheese was melty and delicious. It was Gyoza / Dumpling with a "Western" feel. Next, I took a bite of the celery boiled Gyoza / Dumpling. There was pork and celery inside. The celery flavor was weak, but it had a light taste. I wonder if it was the effect of the spinach that spread a slight green and yellow vegetable flavor in my mouth as I chewed. Just as the draft beer was gone, a highball was brought to me at the perfect time. The waiter was really keeping an eye on things. Amazing. The waiter seemed to be a native speaker, with a slight mainland accent. By the way, after the previous customer left, four more customers came, and they all spoke Chinese to the waiter. Oh, I guess I'm the only Japanese person here. Looking at the menu on the wall, I really wanted to eat the "Mabo Fried Rice (550 yen)", so I bought it to take away. I took the Mabo Fried Rice back to the hotel. It was wrapped in aluminum foil, which somehow felt nice. When I ate it, it had a gentle Mabo flavor. What was surprising was that there was quite a lot of bean sprouts and cabbage. By the way, there was no tofu or eggplant, which are standard in Mabo. The waiter's smiling and polite service, and the timing of the highballs were great. I'd like to try another type of Gyoza / Dumpling again. Thank you for the meal.
