Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki is a local specialty that features noodles -- your choice of yakisoba or udon. It is served fully cooked and ready to enjoy.
It's notable for being a big portion that will fill you up.

The "Hatchobori Honten Set" features a combination of okonomiyaki, pork offal, and oysters, making it an excellent choice for first-time visitors.
The "Hiroshima Set" includes grilled beef chuck and Hiroshima-style kimchi made from pickled greens, perfect for pairing with beer.
レイジタッチー
When I think of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, I always associate it with soba noodles. However, when I ordered, I was asked, “Would you like soba or udon?” I went with soba, assuming it was the standard choice, but I noticed many other customers enjoying theirs with udon. I’d like to try it with udon next time. Okonomiyaki hardly needs an explanation—simply put, it’s delicious.

Impressed by Hiroshima’s renowned okonomiyaki. The thin, chewy batter spreads out perfectly, creating a harmonious blend with the toppings. Notably, the addition of udon noodles offers a unique twist—their pleasantly chewy texture brings a new dimension to the dish. The balance of sauce and mayonnaise is also exceptional.

The finished okonomiyaki is beautifully round, just as shown in the photo. The cabbage is tender, the udon noodles inside are chewy, and the surface is delightfully crisp. Chuka Soba Youki Otemachi is conveniently located just steps from Chuden-mae Station on the Hiroshima Electric Railway. This popular restaurant has several locations throughout Hiroshima City.
The interior features both counter and table seating, with space for approximately 24 guests.
Photograph:ほあたー
The menu at Chuka Soba Youki is refreshingly simple, offering only their signature "Chuka Soba" ramen, along with onigiri rice balls and beer.
The "Chuka Soba" features a pork bone and soy sauce-based broth, with black pepper provided at the table for seasoning.

The "Chuka Soba" soup is made with a blend of pork, chicken, and vegetables, resulting in a rich yet well-balanced flavor. The tare (seasoning sauce) uses a slightly sweet soy base.
The broth offers the savory depth of pork without any overpowering notes, and pairs perfectly with the straight, thin noodles.

Although the soup appears rich and yellow, it is surprisingly light and not overly dominated by pork bone flavor, despite being a soy sauce-based tonkotsu. The thin noodles pair perfectly with the broth and are delicious.

It is especially popular with customers looking for a meal after a night out.

The menu features only one dish: the classic Shirunashi Tantanmen (soupless spicy noodles). Guests can choose their preferred spice level, ranging from "Level 1" to "Level 4," as well as options for a large size or additional toppings.
The signature way to enjoy this dish is to thoroughly mix all the ingredients together before eating.
Photograph:まこたけ
The soy sauce-based sauce is infused with plenty of sansho pepper, giving it a distinctive numbing sensation rather than just spiciness.
Thin, straight noodles pair perfectly with the sauce. Adding half a serving of rice to the remaining sauce at the end is also highly recommended.
まこたけ
Mix the noodles, sauce, and toppings thoroughly until they are well combined. The moment you bite into the chewy noodles, a powerful burst of spiciness and numbing heat hits you all at once. The numbing sensation, in particular, is especially intense and gradually tingles around your mouth, creating an unforgettable experience.

ハラキリ侍
This is a must-try when visiting Hiroshima. They even have an instant cup noodle version. The noodles here are especially delicious—thin and firm, just the way they should be. I mixed everything together before eating. I chose the standard spice level, but it still packed quite a punch. Adding a soft-boiled egg gives it a sukiyaki-style twist, which is also recommended. Afterward, I mixed the remaining toppings with half a serving of rice and finished every last bite. It was a great meal.
