My wish to eat crab finally came true! Not only did I enjoy a crab rice bowl, but also tempura and grilled crab—absolutely amazing! I found the grilled crab even sweeter and more flavorful than the tempura. I used to think taraba (king crab) was always frozen and salty, but here it was incredibly fresh and sweet. Crab here is simply the best!

Crab Rice Bowl

I stopped by for breakfast and was welcomed into a casual, cafeteria-style setting. After looking over the menu, I ordered the crab rice bowl. It was served in less than five minutes—a pleasant surprise. It had been a while since I last enjoyed crab, and this bowl did not disappoint. The generous portion of crab meat was sweet and flavorful, with no excess moisture. The rice was soft and fluffy. The serving size was larger than expected, and everything was delicious.

The croquette is generously filled with crab meat and rich cream, making it a satisfying and highly praised choice.

This is another specialty of the restaurant: "Ika Odori-zukuri"—live squid sashimi. Prepared straight from the tank, the squid is served at peak freshness.

The crystal-clear appearance in the photo speaks to its quality. Expect a pleasantly firm texture and a naturally sweet flavor.

One of my favorite restaurants! If you come here, you can truly experience the best of Hokkaido. Absolutely outstanding. From hairy crab and sea urchin to mini salmon roe rice bowls and squid—you can indulge in everything you want for around 20,000 yen, which is a great value. And every dish is delicious! I will definitely visit again. I feel so lucky to have discovered such a wonderful restaurant.

All-You-Can-Eat Crab Restaurants in Hokkaido: Sapporo Edition

Ebi Kani Gassen Sapporo Honten

Ebi Kani Gassen Sapporo Honten is a popular restaurant where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat boiled crab and a variety of crab dishes. Conveniently located about a 3-minute walk from Susukino Station, the restaurant sits along Tsukisamu-dori in Sapporo, Hokkaido.

Situated on the 12th floor of a building, the restaurant offers a wonderful view of the Susukino area through its windows.

There are two types of all-you-can-eat menus: one featuring only boiled crab, and another that also includes a selection of side dishes.

You can enjoy unlimited servings of three types of boiled crab—hairy crab, snow crab, and king crab. After finishing your initial serving, you are free to order your preferred crab as many times as you like.

The à la carte menu mainly features classic Japanese dishes such as tempura, nigiri sushi, and chawanmushi. The tempura, which receives high praise in customer reviews, is served freshly fried for a crisp and light texture.

Tempura ingredients include small shrimp as well as vegetables like green peppers and eggplant.

shihoi

A pleasant surprise was the tempura—light and perfectly crispy, making it tempting to go back for seconds. The kegani (hairy crab) can be tricky to eat, but it was packed with rich kani miso, a delicacy I rarely get to enjoy. It was definitely worth trying. The taraba (king crab) legs were as satisfying as expected, and since they're easy to peel, I found myself ordering more right away.

While there are courses that feature only crab from start to finish, I opted for one that includes a variety of dishes for a more enjoyable experience. The meal began with small shrimp tempura, shrimp nigiri, crab nigiri, shrimp tempura nigiri, and chawanmushi, followed by generous servings of crab. The chawanmushi was surprisingly sweet. Once you finish your first serving of crab, you can order more as you like.

Hokkaido Beer En

Hokkaido Beer En is a spacious beer hall located about a 3-minute walk from Susukino Station, offering an all-you-can-eat selection of Hokkaido specialties, including Genghis Khan (grilled mutton).

The large interior features a variety of seating options, from open tables to private booths, ensuring a comfortable dining experience for all guests.

For a true taste of Hokkaido, we recommend the all-you-can-eat yakiniku and seafood grill plan, which includes an assorted platter of the region’s three most famous crabs.

The assorted crab platter features freshly boiled Taraba, Zuwaigani, and Kegani. Please note that the crab platter is served only as the first dish and is not part of the all-you-can-eat menu.

Enjoy unlimited servings of Hokkaido beef and fresh, never-frozen lamb in the all-you-can-eat course. The lamb is especially tender and free of any gamey flavor, thanks to the use of unfrozen meat.

All meats are generously thick-cut, ensuring a hearty and satisfying dining experience.

Personally, I could be perfectly happy with just crab and beer, but unfortunately, the crab is only included in the most expensive course. I've visited several times, and whenever I come here, I find myself quietly focused, spending the entire time savoring crab and beer. The crab here is impressively large and incredibly delicious—truly outstanding.

The spacious interior and abundant seating make this an ideal spot for large groups. When it comes to Hokkaido, you can't miss Sapporo Classic! I couldn't wait to try it. The combination of beer and Genghis Khan (grilled lamb) is already perfect, but Hokkaido's lamb is especially tender and free of any strong odor—so delicious that you can keep eating bite after bite. I enjoyed a satisfying meal. It was a great meal.
