Izakaya (Japanese-style bar) of Japanese-style meal is located in the Tama Plaza shopping district. It was a very nice restaurant with a quiet and peaceful atmosphere and delicious food. Tekchiri (for two). Probably about 8,000 yen. It was a consultation on the spot, but I asked for more than 2 servings. A luxurious tecchiri appeared, filled with a lot of white meat of fugu. Garland chrysanthemum, tofu, green onion, Chinese cabbage, enoki mushrooms, and shiitake mushrooms. The soup is clear, but the broth is insanely delicious. About 1:2 of ponzu (Japanese citrus juice) and soup stock is just right. The blowfish was plump and in great quantity. At the end, I drank up so much soup that I didn't even have time to finish it with zosui. I was very satisfied, partly because it was a cold day and partly because we had originally talked about wanting to eat fugu. Taro stew, 550 yen. The taro stew at classic is tender and well seasoned with dashi broth. The taste of soy sauce and other seasonings is light, but the dashi broth is strong. The accent of yuzu (a type of citrus fruit) makes it very tasty. The specialty toriten (small), 600 yen. The meat is moist and tender. The crispy batter is also a nice touch. Onion slices, 500 yen. The owner told us that it is also delicious with toriten, so we could enjoy it with a more refreshing taste. It is also refreshing on its own with ponzu sauce. Deep-fried horse mackerel with ume paste, 880 yen. The plump horse mackerels are refreshing with the ume shiso sauce. I regret that the quantity of Fried food was a bit much, but it was very tasty on its own. The beer was Kirin Classic Lager, 620 yen. The total cost for the two of us was about 13,000 yen. I think it was not expensive since we also had tecchichi. The menu includes horse sashimi, fugu (blowfish), soft-shelled turtle and other delicacies, but there is also a regular Japanese-style meal menu with a wide variety of dishes to choose from. The lineup makes you want to drink sake. The restaurant is not really suited to a lively young crowd, as there are many elderly customers and people drinking alone. Many of the regulars were friendly with the owner and the proprietress. The proprietress was very chirpy and had a very nice atmosphere. She seems to have many fans. It was a very nice restaurant that was easy to spend time at, unlike some of the younger, more lively restaurants. I don't know much about fugu cuisine, so I don't know how it compares, but it was more than good enough for me. Very satisfied. I would definitely come back! The food was delicious and the restaurant was fun.
