「神保町二郎の隣にオープンした二郎インスパイア」とオープン時と騒がれていたのは遥か彼方の話で、
現在では都内きっての二郎インスパイア店として登り詰めた「用心棒」。
さらに用心棒と言えば「千里眼」「風らいぼう」など
名二郎インスパイアを輩出したことで知られ、もはや二郎界において用心棒系という言葉が出来てもおかしくない
勢力と言えよう。
また用心棒と言えば呪文のなかに辛い系が存在し、
本店は「辛玉(辛い練り物)」、本号店は「辛たま(辛く味付した玉ねぎ)」といった形で
店ごとに内容が異なるのが面白い。
さらに現在は閉店してしまった「用心棒2階」では「辛揚げ」が存在し、「千里眼」の原点とも言えよう。
また、トッピングメニューには混ぜ魚粉、チーズ、すきやき、すきやきダブルなどトッピングラインナップも
かなり個性を出している。
さてスープは用心棒系の特徴とも言える乳化スープのもはや豚骨醤油スープ状態。
本家二郎のような醤油フッキングバリバリは存在しないが、まさしく用心棒のスープだ。
(徐々にニンニクと辛玉をスープにフュージョンさせていくことで、レンゲが止まらない超ジャンクスープに)
さらに麺もこの店ならではのゴワゴワ極太縮れ麺で、
もはや本家二郎とは異なる”用心棒ラーメン”というのが成立しているとも言えよう。
ただ、用心棒の場合ぶたは一枚しか存在しないが「やっぱり二郎ってぶた2枚だよなぁ~」と強く思うほど、
何かよくわからない物足りなさを感じてしまったのも、また新たな発見だった。
