A tempura restaurant in Ebara Nakanobu run by a former chef at the Prime Minister's residence
This restaurant is a tempura restaurant located in a corner of a seedy drinking area in Ebara Nakanobu. The owner, Chef Tazaki, has experience as the executive chef of a hotel and the chef of the Japanese Consulate in Vancouver. I hadn't been here for a while because the tempura Ten-don (tempura rice bowl) I had last time was so-so, but I decided to go again after a long time. When I heard that the daily set meal (800 yen) was fried oysters, I immediately decided to go for it. The fried oyster set meal consisted of five fried oysters, shredded cabbage, salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles. The fried oysters were quite small, but for this price and the fact that it came with a salad, it's a good deal. Before I knew it, they also had a fried horse mackerel set meal and Pork Cutlet set meal in the lineup, which must be difficult for the restaurant, but it has become more convenient for customers, so next time I'll go for the fried horse mackerel set meal. 再訪。
荏原中延にある場末感漂う飲み屋のエリアの一角にある天婦羅割烹。
メニューに日替り定食があったので試してみようかなと思ったら、その日は終わったとのことなので、天丼(1,200円)を注文した。
前回も天丼だったので、味付けくらいは変えてみようと、タレではなく塩で頼んでみた。
天婦羅の内容は、海老2本、キス、茄子、南瓜、いんげん、ピーマンと、前回と同じ顔ぶれで、どうやら固定されてるようだ。
上天丼とかだど、季節ものが入ってたりするんだろうか。
天婦羅は、サクサクというより、もはやカリカリといった感じの揚げ具合だった。
ちょっとしっかり揚げすぎじゃないかな。
また、塩も天丼としてはあっさりし過ぎて、選択ミスだった。
天丼にはタレの方が似合うね。
海鮮丼や刺身定食などもあるようだけど、肝心の天婦羅(天丼)がなんとも微妙なので、当分利用しないかな。

荏原中延駅から昔の線路跡沿いに延びた小路はちょっとした飲み屋街になっていて、古びたスナックが並んだ場末感漂う場所になっているが、その一角にこの店はある。
なるべく行きたくないエリアなので、これまで足を踏み入れたことがなかったが、この日のランチに、この店に行ってみた。
スナック等に囲まれてはいるが、店自体は新しい建物のようで、店内も小綺麗だった。
店内はオープンキッチンを囲むカウンター席のみで、先客が3人入っていた。
店主の田崎シェフは、ホテルの総料理長やバンクーバーの日本領事館の公邸料理人を務めた経験の持ち主だそうで、店を一人で切り盛りしていた。
メニューを見ると、日替り定食(800円、この日は牛丼)に心が動きかけたが、天婦羅割烹と名乗ってる店で天ぷらを食べないわけにはいかないと思い、天丼(1,200円)を注文した。
ちなみに、メニューには、天丼のところに「塩またはタレ」と書いてあったので、どちらかを選ぶのかと思ったら、特にきかれなかった。
天丼は、ご飯の上に、海老2本、キス、カボチャ、茄子、いんげん、ピーマンが載り、味噌汁、サラダ、漬物が付いてきた。
天ぷらはどれもサクっと軽い感じに揚がっていた。
タレは比較的あっさりした味わいで、汁だくにならない程度の量がかかっていた。
海老の身が細かったのは値段からすれば仕方ないのだろう。
中延にすれば少し高い値段設定だが、サラダも付くし、こんなものかもしれない。
味は悪くはないけど、特にこの天ぷらが美味しかったというものはなく、やや印象が希薄だったかな。

This restaurant is a tempura restaurant located in a corner of a seedy drinking area in Ebara Nakanobu. The owner, Chef Tazaki, has experience as an executive chef at a hotel and as a chef at the Japanese Consulate in Vancouver. I returned to try the horse mackerel fry set meal (1,200 yen), which caught my eye on my previous visit. The batter on the horse mackerel fry was soggy, and the horse mackerel meat had a slightly raw texture and a lingering fishy smell. Both fish were like this, and they were completely undercooked. Perhaps because the menu options have increased, the restaurant was almost full, but the main dish was this... Still, this area is a barren place for eating out, so I have no choice but to visit again, but I think I'll wait a while. Thank you for the meal.
