ChefKōhei Onoda - The DNA of a Renowned Restaurant as Told by the Two Characters "鍈" and "輝"
Kohei Onoda was born as the son of the long-established yakitori restaurant "Torikane" in Denenchofu and trained under Yoshiteru Ikegawa, known for having the best yakitori in Japan at "Torishiki." After working as a grill master at his second location, "Torikado," he achieved independence. In other words, the "鍈" in "Eki" is taken from "Torikane," while "輝" is derived from "Torishiki," indicating that these two characters tell the story of a prestigious lineage. His trademark is a fan tucked into his waist. He has many fans thanks to his warm smile and friendly service.
Food "Juicy Grilling Results from 'Torishiki' Preparation with 'Close Fire, Strong Heat'"
The chicken used is the Fukushima Prefecture-produced Date chicken, similar to the "Torishiki" from the master chef. The cooking method follows the teachings of Yoshiteru Ikegawa, using a "close fire with strong heat" technique, where the skewers are rotated 1 centimeter from the heat source. This method allows the chicken to be grilled quickly, sealing in the juices and resulting in a fluffy and juicy finish. Additionally, each skewer from "Eki" is larger and more substantial, weighing 50-60 grams compared to the usual yakitori skewer (30 grams), providing a satisfying bite. When you take a bite, the deliciousness bursts in your mouth.
Others A Refreshing Space with a White Wood Counter, Perfectly Suited to Edo Aesthetics
It is a 5 to 6-minute walk from Ebisu Station. As you open the hinoki (Japanese cypress) door, guided by a small lantern, you will find a U-shaped white wood counter with 15 seats centered around General Onoda. The interior, finished in the Edo style, features motifs of bells, inspired by the character "鍈" from the restaurant's name "鍈輝," which means the sound of bells. The overall atmosphere is refreshing and clean.

Since its opening in February 2019, "Eiki" has quickly become a popular spot that's hard to book. The secret to its popularity lies in the friendly atmosphere created by the owner, Kohei Onoda, and th...e flavorful yakitori crafted with the skills learned from the renowned "Tori-shiki."
Similar to "Tori-shiki," the course menu operates on a "stop when you want" system, featuring mainly skewers along with some unique options like thick fried tofu and fried chicken. For the finale, the original "Seseri and Clam Takikomi Rice" is a favorite among guests.
