Today, I had the Kasu-Jiru (soup made from sake lees).
Along with it, I enjoyed some side dishes: Kizushi (pickled fish), Spinach Ohitashi (boiled spinach with bonito flakes), Stir-fried vegetables, Tamago Yaki (Japanese omelet), Nikujaga (meat and potato stew), and rice.
The total was around JPY 1500.
The pork Kasu-Jiru contained pork, fried tofu, carrots, Japanese radish, konnyaku, and taro. It wasn’t overly thick, with the ingredients subtly visible, yet the flavor of the sake lees was robust when drinking.
Some places mix in white miso for sweetness, but this version has less sweetness, providing a rich and delicious taste.
Personally, I prefer a thicker Kasu-Jiru, but this was still very enjoyable.
The Ohitashi was simply blanched spinach topped with bonito flakes.
I expected it to have some flavor, but I added soy sauce to enhance it.
The Nikujaga and Tamago Yaki were both quite tasty.
The Kizushi was pickled in a flavorful vinegar that I love!
It was good enough to eat without soy sauce, but dipping it in soy sauce and wasabi elevated the aroma and flavor.
The stir-fried vegetables were quite bland, but since I am mindful of my salt intake, that was a relief. Even for someone like me who prefers bland food, they were on the lighter side. For those who like stronger flavors or for laborers, they might find it lacking in taste, but there were seasonings like salt, soy sauce, sauce, and shichimi on the table for customization.
I had enjoyed the edamame rice on my last visit, but the regular white rice here is also delicious.
Overall, I am completely satisfied!
I will definitely come back!
